MrDudleyDoWright
How come all of a sudden, the media on MLB.com isnt playing? Everytime i want to watch a video, it never comes up. Even with the old media players, it never worked. Anybody know why?
MarkB
I had the same problem, couldn't use the new videos using WMP. However, I use Firefox normally and although it shouldn't cause a problem, I tried it with IE and it worked fine. Not gotten around to figuring it out yet. What browser are you using? JP_Frost
I use firefox as well, but the videos do play (I'm using the silverlight player unfortunately). The only problem I encounter is my browser freezing every now and then going to team sites, watching vids, or watching gameday. Mlb messed up with this new format. xiberger
The videos on MLB.com are now using Microsoft's new (and crappy!) Silverlight plugin. Do you have it installed on your system?
MetsReyes777
Yeah they don't work on IE on my school computers. At home on my laptop with Firefox they work just fine.

It's not just me, good to know. :wall: I was getting so angry going to Mets.com and having to restart my browser 24/7.
MrDudleyDoWright
I don't know how many times i have to install silverlight. My Browser is IE, and i do have silverlight installed.
MarkB
I wouldn't install it at all. :)
MetsReyes777
I'm so angry they have this new Silverlight plugin. It makes it harder to download the video to my computer now...which is what I used to do cause I would make Mets highlight videos and upload them to YouTube, until my YouTube account got banned because of so many copyright infringements from MLB Advanced Media. I pretty much know all those guys personally now. Oops.................
MarkB
I noticed that the new video routine makes it incredibly easy to download the videos when using just media player, they are just stored in .FLV (Flash Video) format, although the sound file seems to be stored somewhere else. I need to investigate this more, as I've only tried a few files.

HFLR
I noticed that the new video routine makes it incredibly easy to download the videos when using just media player, they are just stored in .FLV (Flash Video) format, although the sound file seems to be stored somewhere else. I need to investigate this more, as I've only tried a few files. I know how to download the videos like in the past years (WMV). For example: New videos are stored in this adress: http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2008/0...498573_300K.flv So you just need to copy this of the first link: /2008/05/29/mlbtv_atlmil_498573 Do not copy the 300k text Now go to the Top plays archive of a random team and access the videos from 2007, they will have the older media player. Copy the adress of that video and you will have something like this: mms://a1503.v108692.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1503/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2008/open/mlbam/2007/05/28/mlbtv_nyabal_489701_400K.wmv Now replace the "/2007/05/28/mlbtv_nyabal_489701" of the 2007 video adress with the link you had copied early "/2008/05/29/mlbtv_atlmil_498573" and you will have something like this: mms://a1503.v108692.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1503/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2008/open/mlbam/2008/05/29/mlbtv_atlmil_498573_400K.wmv Copy the whole new adress and download with Flash Get or another program and there you go Old videos finish with: 400k.wmv while the new ones finish in 300k.flv so make sure it finishes with 400k.wmv
dsekirka
I have Firefox and they don't play for me either.

I never did get around to checking it out, so that's a nice thing to remember. Good discovery! :D
