Getting new laptop

Currently using Centrino Duo, 2 GB Ram, 100 GB HDD, Windows XP SP2. Everything works pretty good, some overheating issues (probably needs dusted out), MVP 07 is choppy, I've done everything I can think of, read everything I can about it on these forums,,,it just is going to be choppy. Vid card is Nvidia GeForce Go 7400, 256 MB integrated.

Anyway, I want a new laptop. Here's what I'm looking at. Which do you think would be better?

CyberPower Intel Core 2 Duo 2.50 Ghz, 4 GB ram, 320 GB HDD, NVidia Mobile 8600 GT, 512 MB dedicated vid card WITH:

Windows XP Pro

OR

Windows Vista Premim Home 64-bit

I'm really torn here, as I would like to move on to Vista, but XP is what I know. Opinions? Thanks

It really depends what you want from the system. If you want almost definite software and driver compatibility, ease of use and a normal install, go with XP. If you want to move on and learn the new OS and are prepared to troubleshoot any issues that arise, go with Vista. At this point, I would stick with XP, but having said that, my laptop came with Vista and I've gotten used to it now, but I have it dual-booted with XP.
