With all due respect you have little to no taste in rap.

Why, because i didnt write Biggie? We all know those guys, I was throwing out guys who werent listed or mentioned yet.

Can anyone name one hit song Vanilla Ice had besides his Ice, Ice Baby?

I forgot about Mobb Deep, KRS-1, Onyx and Lost Boyz. Brings me back to my yout. Public Enemy ... Flava Flavvvvv!!! Who was the guy with the big artifical nose? And no female rappers? Should any be on the list?

My friend said a while ago KRS-1 was the last best rap group and everything today is based upon them. Then again, he is older and mostly listens to jazz and blues and not this new stuff.

Guys with big fake nose = Shock G, Digital Underground.

KRS One was one guy, not a group. Tell your friend to get a clue.:)

And I'm ashamed that I didn't mention most of the names on Sean's list. Immortal Technique is sick. Still waiting for The Middle Passage to get released.

Well I decided to vote 2pac, due to amount of quality songs. Not one bad one. Had a good voice, great rhythms, and was first rapper I liked.

No rapper with the word Little or Lil should ever be considered in the list above. Lil' Kim ... Lil' Wayne ... Lil' Bow wow

Speaking of which .... I know he's not a rapper but you also got Little Richard ... lol

Christopher Wallace ....

Were 2Pac and Biggie linked in their deaths?

Lil Flip? What kind of stupid name is that? And what happens when all these rappers grow up? Will they change their name to Big as in Big Flip?

Thanks for the info Mark. If KRS-1 is 1 guy shouldn't he be on the list? Ok@Shock G ... was he in a movie with John Candy and Chevy Chase where John played a cop and Chevy was caught speeding through a three block town?

How about the Vanilla Ice question? Where's DJ when you need him?

You people know that I am joking about Vanilla Ice right?

Being a 32 year old white guy, I was always partial to The Beastie Boys, although I do enjoy some Tupac, as my younger brother is a HUGE fan.

Indeed, he was. "Nothing But Trouble", 1991. Dan Aykroyd and Demi Moore were in it as well.

Wikipedia has a stupidly long article on Vanilla Ice. The fact that someone would dedicate that much time to writing about him is amazing.

Thanks. Wikipedia has a ton of stupid long articles. That movie was good.

Most important comment quoted below.

"Play That Funky Music", and who can forget his song for the Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles Movie, "Turtle Rap".....

"T-U-R-T-L-E Power...T-U-R-T-L-E Power, teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles..."

That's writing my friends, a classic example of Rap before it went all Gangsta...

Of course his career was capped off with his excellent movie,"Cool as Ice".

...Ahhhhhh, Ice, we hardly knew ye.

I'm the minority that really dislikes Pac. The one thing is that I don't really like West Coast rap, never really heard an artist I liked. I love Immortal Technique, my favorite though is Jay, so I voted for him. On that list I like in order, Eminem, Biggie then Nas, then everyone else I really couldn't care much about. I also like DMX, only guy to have his first 6 albums be #1 albums upon release. To answer you're question Borgi, I like Kanye West, great with the beats, some don't like his rapping, I'm okay with it, it's pretty good, for him all in all, I'd give it a thumbs up. Also its too early to talk about this guy up there with the best, but I'm a big Lupe fan.

They would be banned. Immediately. And their ISP informed of their behaviour.

Possibly a mail bomb as well, depending on the mood I'm in.

Jay is the best rapper alive...better then the other living legends. Rakim can spit. Nas is a monster, Snoop lyrically has nothing on any of these guys. Biggie is definately the man though. His lyrics from top to bottom are amazin'!! If it wasn't for him, Lil' Kim and Jay probably won't be having this much success.

True, but he was in BDP which may have been what the other poster was referring to and there's no question KRS' best work came during the BDP albums.

Anyway, Nas is the best rapper to me and it's really not close. 17 years in the game, the best album of all time (Illmatic), by far the best guest-spot MC (Verbal Intercourse, Fast Life, Eye for an Eye, etc) and the best lyricist of all time. Certainly one of the most influential rappers of all time (how many rappers have you heard praise Illmatic is one of the best of all time). He's your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.

Pac is overrated to me, his content/message in his songs was usually great but lyrically he was pretty weak. Seriously, Biggie was twice the MC Pac was in terms of flow, lyrics, creativity, etc.

Biggie and most old school cats (BDK, Rakim, KRS) had primes that were way to short to be considered the GOAT.

Jay is the only other current guy who I'd put in the Top 10, unfortunately guys like Mos Def became sidetracked (movies) and weren't committed to their hip-hop careers. When I first heard Black on Both Sides I thought it was one of the best albums I'd heard in years and Mos Def was going to be one of the best ever to do it.

Common is just outside of the Top 10, lyrically he's dropped a bit since his Ressurection days but he'll always be one of my favorites.
