How many members do we REALLY have?

I ask because i do not trust the counter and I would love to know our actual member numbers. Between people creating multiple accounts, accounts being inactive and abandoned I was curious to how many active users we have. If that is at all possible to figure out. If so I bet 2ksports probably has some lackies who read here from time to time and see how they do not gain much ground with a lot of us. Or any baseball game for that matter, although thew show has won over a lot of us from what I have seen since the 07 Show.

Anyways if it is possible for a Mod to know this I would definitely like to know. The counter is around 61,000 so I made the guess of around maybe 50,000 or maybe 45,000 people who do have interest in download here. Couple that to a maybe $40 dollar price tag for a hypothetical EA mvp 08 or MLB 2k8 release and It def makes people rethink these exclusive rights agreements.

Although I may not be considering people who would not actually pay for a game and only come here because it is free, or I may be aiming high in my member number assumption. But I am def sure EA made a good profit back when MVP 05 first came out. I pray for a 2k buyout by EA and a return of pc baseball. Although thats unlikely after they scrapped Nba Live and Madden, both of which i hate compared to what i could have. But I only have pc =(

Not much, M. Enjoying The Show. My Cubbies are 18-20 going into today against the Pads. I've been busier than expected this spring, but when I find some time I'm gonna hit Trues up online for a game or two!

Like I said, I check in daily and look at some the dynasties going on. Where's your Cubbies at this year???

We have a lot more than 500 members id say.

There are a supriseing amount of people who just DL mods and never post anything. Every once in a while ill see a guy who registered like 3 years ago and has 3 posts.

Glad to see you're enjoying the Show. I take it you got things tweaked to your liking. Get those Cubbies above .500 :club:

Looks like I'll be getting my PS3 for my B-day next month unless something drastic happens. Can't wait & I'm looking forward to the new Metal Gear 4 as well.

Good to see you bro. My Cubbies are 23-17, 2 games back of the Cards. I'm having fun so far. And yes, we need to hook up for a game sometime.

I don't want to hijack the thread here, but after a few weeks of tweaking, this game (The Show) is so diverse. I'm probably averaging 3-4 runs, 7-9 hits a game, but it seems no 2 games are alike. Rich Hill picked up his third win of the season the other day in a 14 strikeout performance and shutting the Pads completely out. I play yesterday's game and struggle to hit the corners. 8O

I'll definately be looking you up, Trues. And M, gimme a shout when you land that PS3!

:D

I don't post that often, but I keep updated about whats going on about 3-4 times a week since I've been a member. This site has saved my baseball playing. I do have The Show 07 & 08 PS3 but I only play the career mode. For a full game I'm still hooked on MVP updates. Looking forward to The MVP 08 Mod.

As Trues said, it really depends what you mean by active. For users that post in the forum regularly, I'd guess around...100, maybe. First guess would be 50, but just thinking about it, it's probably a lot closer to 100. For users that don't post and just download, maybe another 100, 150. I'd say no more than 200.

The counter on the left counts all accounts that have been registered and activated. What happens to them after that, the counter has no idea of. It doesn't count members who aren't around any more, duplicate accounts, have been suspended etc.

I've tried other baseball games, but I always come back to MVP 2005 because it's great.

Just purchased Baseball Mogul. It's cool so far but haven't gotten into it yet. I like it for the historical stats. They have some great tools and functions that would be great within the MVP game such as starting a dynasty in any year after 1902 and using real life draft picks or being able to use a 3 or 4 man pitching rotation. But for the PC, there's nothing as good as MVP no matter how you slice it, dice it and ice it. I just only wished I could fix my MVP94. <sigh>

Anyways ... what really does constitute an active or real member? Is that a member who has logged in within the last X number of years or who has made X number of posts within the last year or so or that has a combination of downloads + posts in the last year?

From looking at the members' list, there are a ton of people that have 0 posts from 1995 and 1994. I wonder if any of them ever come back to this site. I would say there are about 500 active members and maybe about 200 actively participating members if at all.

But, if given the chance ... I'd rather play the game instead of constantly simming it. Only if you combined the best of Mogul with the best of MVP .. that would be great. And you may as well throw in best of Front Page Sports too.
