For those that play on MVP difficulty...

First off, I'm using Trues's datafile on mvp with no strike zone, fade cursor, but I do have hitter's eye on. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can make the game harder and actually lose a realistic amount of games? I'm averaging about 10 hits a game and most of my lineup is over .300.

Thanks for any input.

Some of my sliders:

pitch meter difficulty: 32. I'm hesitant to make it harder and not have a realistic number of strikeouts.

pitch speed: 0

cpu ball rate: -1

user fatigues: -6

cpu fatigue: 15

user control: -15

cpu control: 15

cpu contact: 0

user power: -2

cpu power: 7

fouls: 50

cpu swing: -40

Thanks. I forgot to put that my user contact is at -7. Should I make it -10, play a few games, and adjust accordingly?

i'm kind of having the same problem on my dynasty... after losing the first game, i went on to win 33 in a row, on MVP level

You might want to try a different datafile; I didn't really think trues's is that different than the default one... I recommend This one...

I'm in the same boat as you, although I'm getting realistic scores.

Increase pitch speed to about 20.

Increase CPU ball rate to about 7-8. You'll find yourself realistically swinging at bad pitches.

Turn Hitter's eye off. Nuff said.

In my memory of 3 years of high school baseball I cannot see how colors are likened to reading a pitch grip, not too mention its quite fast to see most of the time because you are focusing on the ball coming in real life situation. Looking at the pitchers hand means swinging and missing or not swining at all. If anything i focused on the whole arm for release points and arm speed, not just at the hand for grip.

Trust me the best challenge you will get is not knowing whats coming to the plate until it arrives. Dont cheat yourself with that lame option.

I also feel kumala's datafile is the most realistic out there. The defalut datafile and a few others i have tried seem to make it that you can just hold up and smack hits all around the field, which gets boring. Try that with no hitters eye and trust me games will be a challenge.

Kayxero- Yup, good call. Now hitting is really really tough. Should I slow the pitch speed down a little? If I do that though, won't I need to increase power by a little, since the ball would be coming off the bat slower? Or just increase user contact to compensate for being a little late or early on my swing? I've dropped like 40 points on every one of my guy's averages.

KG- Thanks. I changed cpu ball rate to +1 and now I'm getting a few more strikeouts and walks. I'm happy with a few more walks since before I was putting the ball in play a lot more than not. A little more realistic...

Happy 4th of July everybody.

I must have spent a month trying to figure out what I wanted. Its pretty difficult at first, but once you have it the way you want it, then you have something. Post your sliders once you get them where you want them.........but thats only if you feel up to it.

I agree that Hitter's Eye must be off, the game is way too arcadish if it's on. I would probably strike out once or twice a series with it on.

I think what I'll do is slow down the pitch speed so I have a split second longer to realize what's coming at me. Before, when I had hitter's eye on, I could pretty much have the timing down before the pitch (since I knew what it was) and just had to worry about where in the zone to swing. Now I have to do both, which I've realized has slowed me down a lot!

Through the six or so games I've played, my hit count has varied (some games with only 5 or 6, and one or two games with 8-10 hits). So I think my contact is where it should be for now. I'm still waaaay to anxious on changeups.

Wallbanger- I'll plan on posting my sliders once I feel like they're at a good level. Maybe there are a few other people that play on mvp that would be interested in trying mine out.

Well as I have said in other threads I try to make the game as difficult and as close to real life as possible. So i used to always avoid touching sliders but noticed that the pitch speed was alot slower than real life speeds. When i say alot i mean that on avg you have an extra .15 to .30 seconds on pitches in the game compared to their real life counterparts. yes I actually timed them with a stop watch many a time in replay and then timed mlb games.

So what did i do. I tried plus 50 pitch speed right away. I went from zero to 50 and saw that the speed was spot on to real life speed and now fb's are intimidating, and anything off speed doesn't seem like it takes forever to get to the plate. Losing that fraction of a second added much challenge.

I still say Kumala has a good data file however i must say the cpu offense is very lacking in it, and they strike out too much. And it seems most of the hits you get are forced into grounders no matter how well you strike the ball. I mean it was great and at first but once you sorta play on it for a while it becomes to easy to 4 and 5 hit the cpu and win alot.

This being said I think the default MVP 07 datafile is best. I think its a slightly modified version of the original 05 datafile with just a harder pitch meter. And several fielder tweaks, although im not sure. For myself I just turn pitch speed, user fouls, and cpu fouls up to 50 for all while using the 07 datafile. This way its real life pitch speed, and since there are more fouls, your timing has to be perfect.

Ive studied the frame by frame replays and it seems to me that the yellow frames for the ball are less. Meaning that there is a one or two less late and early yellow foul frames to hit the ball in, meaning youll swing and miss. I find this to be very great.

Btw maybe its just me, but other than those 3 minor things, I have never had to alter any other sliders and seem to get realistic results with the rest on zero. Same thing with MLB the Show 08, I haven't had to touch the sliders there either. But I'm back to MVP anyways.

Btw the best way to hit pitching in this game I believe is to use the center view, and my eye is always on the pitchers arm and I get great ball reads. Then I just measure the breaks on offspeed pitches and say to myself "ok if the high point of the breaking pitch is at my head level itsll drop in for a strike" I use some sort of measure like that so I get good reads.

I noticed you turn up cpu fatigue. To be honest sometimes I get like 4 or 5 walks of the starters. I take alot, so usually by inning 6 hes at 100 throws and out of the game. Only thing is, is that i never throw that many cus the cpu swings after stuff alot, no matter any file ive used or slider I have tried so I leave that at zero. It doesnt matter because by the time i throw 75 pitches the starter is done because its so hard in the 07 file to pitch after that, as the sweet spot is so hard to hit that i my starter out because i start to hang alot of stuff.

Anyways hope this helps =)

I add more challenge to the game by setting Pitch cursor OFF. In real life you dont have a mark of where to throw the ball, you only have the idea of where you want it. But this option is only usable with a vibrating controller, if not...then is useless.

And I really like the idea of the Pitch speed to 50..... I tried it and is really challenging. you can see the smoke out of the fb's (lol)
