MVP 07 Crash Issues/Modding?

Hey guys,

I just had a few comments/questions/concerns for anyone out there who mods, or anyone who has any idea what they're doing. I've searched the forums low and high for my concerns, but nothing was found, so here we go...

1) I've installed MVP 07, KG's new roster update, the new facial patches for the players, new diamonds, new jerseys, 2008 schedule, new bats/balls/bases, etc. to keep the game up to date. In my dynasty, when simulating through AAA, the game freezes, and things like Ctrl+F4 and Ctrl+Alt+Del are useless, as is the windows button, and I'm forced to shutdown the computer manually, which makes me cringe when thinking of all the data on my hard drive that I could lose. Has there been any fix for this yet? The game is basically unplayable now, and I can't seem to find a way to get around the AAA simming to play my MLB game. I realize that modders are busting their *** trying to get these things as bug-free as possible, but how can something like this be released with such a major issue? I'm not playing it right now, but I'm sure that I'm around that April 17-21 date that everyone else is stuck at and can't progress past. The game is virtually unplayable, seeing as you can't go more than 30 someodd games into the season. Is this an issue with the cyberfaces, schedules, or what? Would downgrading a mod solve this issue at all? Would changing to owner mode fix this?

2) Hair. I've noticed in series such as Madden and NBA Live, that players with distinct hairstyles (Troy Polamalu, Ben Wallace, Jeremy Shockey, etc) have their hair sticking out under their helmets/have been designed into the game. Is this a feature that could possibly be editable for MVP?

3) Tattoos. Guys like Josh Hamilton (TEX) are inked up, and a feature like this in MVP would be amazing. Even if there is little variety, having the option of giving a player a tattoo in the game would be outstanding. Would this be editable?

4) Armbands. Looking around the league at guys like Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, David Wright, Brad Wilkerson, John McDonald, etc., they wear armbands that are lower than the MVP elbow guards, but are higher than the MVP wristbands. Could this feature somehow be editable for MVP?

5) Ball physics. I've noticed that the ball in MVP is very akward when hit. Often times, a ball will get cranked off the bat, smoke the base, and do nothing, bouncing to the outfield like a regular ball. Before I began downloading these mods, the bases would sometimes deflect a ball in another direction based on where it made contact with the base. Sometimes, I've also noticed that the ball takes very weird hops off of angled walls in the outfield. Just the other day, I was playing in the modded Rogers Centre, and I hit a ball down the left field line. The Jays stadium is a bit 'cookie-cutter' if you will, so the ball should have bounced towards the left fielder, but instead, bounced back towards third, despite hitting the wall on that side angle. Later that game, I hit a frozen rope off the exact same spot, and the ball *shot* from the left field corner to a few feet short of centre, simply ricocheting off the wall with ridiculous hops. Has anyone else noticed this kind of stuff/can it be corrected?

6) Broken bats. I've noticed that broken bats break in the same spot every single time, which is right above the hands on the bat handle. I understand that this may not be editable, but what really bothers me is the sound the bat makes when it makes contact with the ball. It sounds nothing at all like a broken bat hit. Bats do frequently break on the handle because of the weight of the barrel, and I've seen guys break their bats *before* making contact with the ball, and often times, the bat breaks in shards in the barrel, or takes a chunk out of the 'sweet spot', rather than up and in on the hands. Any ideas?

I hate to sound like I'm nitpicking, which is really not what I'm trying to do. I know that MVP modders pride themselves in accuracy of mods, and with some of the mods I've seen, such as the playoff logos on the side of bases, pine tar helmets, sleeves for players, and ball stitching, I was just wondering whether or not things such as the ones I listed above would be editable, or could somehow be modded into MVP.

1. there's an issue with the rosters. there's a fix for it floating around, but i don't remember where it is. when it froze like that on me, instead of powering down, i used my hotkey to put the computer into sleep, or even log out. when i log back in, i am able to shut down the game with ALT+CTRL+Delete.

2. this is somewhat. it's not perfect by any means, because there are limitations to it.

3. this is possible, but understand this: the game uses a certain number of skin textures. i can't remember off the top of my head, but i believe it's 9 slots. meaning 9 different skin tones. in order to add tatoos, you have to add the tatoo to that specific skin tone. however, anyone with that skin tone will also have the tatoo. a way around it is that you are able to add a few skin tone slots, 5 i believe. this way you can make it a custom skin tone. however, there is one glitch with this also. in the game, there's something called llod (low level of definition) for textures. meaning when you zoom far away, such as seeing the baserunner on 2b when you're batting, there's a generic texture for the uniforms, faces, and skin tone. we know where these are for the uniforms and can easily edit them. we don't know where they are for skin tones, faces, and gloves. so the problem is in these views, you get an automatic color such as blue, or purple, or other colors.

4. this is absolutely editable. however, no one's been able to do it without messing something up. the issue here is you're messing with remodelling the armband so that it moves higher up on the arm, and not having the two things cut through each other, and not have them look like they're floating. until now, no one's really been able to make a decent mod for this. but again, remember that if this is successfully done, all players will have higher armbands.

5. ball physics are controlled by the datafile. there are lots of datafile options for download. they're something you just gotta try to find one you like. the good news is they're quick and easy to use and replace.

6. you can absolutely change the spot it breaks, but again, it's a complicated edit to do. no one's found it's worth the time. the sound can also be edited. you can record whatever sound you like. you'll have to ask some of the sound experts to find out where it's stored.

Awesome. The latter five are fine by me, I was just curious as to whether or not things like this could be done. I don't see myself getting another baseball game for a platform or anything as long as sites like this and EAMods are hanging around, so I just wanted to see what was within a realm of possibility.

What really bothers me is #1. I'm unsure as to whether this problem remains even in owner mode, but considering that it's a roster issue, it would come as no suprise. *Apparently*, the 5.2 roster update no longer crashes for AAA games, but does so when selecting a uniform, which is no help either. Could the solution possibly be downloading a roster update that isn't one of KG's and re-starting the dynasty to see if the changes take effect? Would using another modder's roster file fix this problem?
