spiroevil
I have been using MVP 07 on my computer for several months. I have frequently used MVPEdit to edit the rosters and such to my satisfaction, and never had any problems...until today. When I try to load the game, the loading screen comes up. The blue bar usually makes it about halfway to the end, then suddenly goes back to being only about a fourth of the way to the end. Then the game crashes back to the desktop. Possible culprits: For the first time, I used the "TEAM" portion of MVPEdit last night. I edited the managers, intensity, and tendencies for every team. Perhaps this is why my game has crashed, maybe I did something wrong. I have a paranoid feeling that I may have extracted my latest roster edit to datafile instead of database. Could this be the issue? Lastly, I turned off my computer last night without shutting it down properly (i.e. I just switched it off instead of going to the drop bar on the desktop, clicking shut down, etc.). I know this is a bad idea, but I was really tired and wanted the computer off as soon as possible. Any other ideas, any suggestions, anything, please? I really don't want to have to reupload MVP again. Fortunately, my roster is saved, so it wouldn't take too long to get things back to normal, but it would still be a pain in the ***, ya know? Thanks for any help!
TrumpeteerNYR
I'm no expert, but my guess would be that MVPEdit did something weird. Shutting down the computer like that probably wouldn't do anything to the game...I'm 99.9% sure of that. Do you have back ups of your files? If not, I suggest finding a download that may work, or getting the files from the MVP Install disk (insert the disk, and use the right click => explore option under my computer). Not sure if this helps, but I'll help you if I can.
spiroevil
No, I didn't back up my files. Got to remember to do that next time. I only have one saved roster, and that's the one that apparently made the game screw up. Could you explain that last thing you were talking about in more detail? TrumpeteerNYR
Okay, well lemme just be sure I've got what you're saying... You think that you corrupted your datafiles, right? like, your .dat files? If that's the case, then you can get those files off the MVP Install disks (use Disk 1). Insert the disks into your computer, but don't run MVP. Instead, go to my computer, and right click on your CD Drive. Click the "Explore" option, and you'll be taken into a directory of all the files on the MVP Disk. Inside that folder, there should be a file called "Compressed.zip". Open up that zip file, and using the headers at the top of the file list, sort by "Path". Then find the files that need to go to datadatabase, extract those, and replace the files in your database folder with those. The files you just extracted are the default EA database files. I'm not 100% sure what your problem with the game is, I'm no expert...but this method should work if your database is screwed up. I recommend backing up your current files before you do this. Good luck!
Jim825
When you say that you "edited the managers", exactly what did you do? Did you change some attibutes or possibly the manager name? Did you change the face ID for the manager, and if so, did you verify that you selected a valid face ID? There are a few reasons why crashes can occur when the loading screen comes up. The most common is that a face is missing or corrupted in the models.big. Another is if your lineup has less than 9 players assigned to it. If you extracted your files to your datafile folder it would be easy enough to verify this. Simply open up Windows Explorer, go to the datafile folder and see if there are any .dat files there. If not, then you copied them to your database folder. If the files are there, either delete them or copy them to your database folder (AFTER backing up the ones already there). spiroevil
Whenever I used the "check errors" thing on MVPEdit for the past week or so, it said "carolina mudcats lineup not complete" even though it was. But IDK if that's the problem because I exported the roster several times with this "error" and the game still worked fine. Until last night that is. But I will check the cyberfaces I assigned to the managers and see if they might have been invalid.
spiroevil
Huh. I didn't change anything that I can remember, I just went through the MVPEdit program looking for problems, but I don't think I fixed anything specific. But now all the sudden it works again. Weird.
