Have you got it hooked up to High Def? If not, you haven't seen anything yet.

Indeed, monoprice.com has ridiculously cheap cables. The switch to HDMI is incredible, especially when you're only paying a few bucks instead of $50.

Just curious, is there any like, SIGNIFICANT advantage vs component with HDMI? My friend and I have been butting heads on this issue for days
Picutre quality its hard to tell the difference, but the sound quality I think is way better with HDMI, IMO.

Well I get my HDtv next week. Im planning to get a Samsung Automotion TV. The ones with 120hz refresh. They are amazing and i Used to sell them when i worked as a salesmen for an electronics store.

It makes HD imaging jump off the screen in a sort of 3dish way. Eliminates all blur as well.

Now on to the SHow. For as much as i feared the hitting, i must say its the most realistic hitting ive ever experienced in a baseball game. Gone are the days where I can hold up for homeruns even on low in the zone pitches like in MVP. It seems in the show that most power swings on low zone pitches are mostly grounders, which makes sense.

The way I hit I make a split second decision on whether to swing for contact or power. Something to get used to since i have the quick choice between two buttons and also moving to the right location. Plus it makes more sense to me that you cannot hold left or right to try and get pulls or opposite field hits. Makes more sense that timing defines this and working on your timing to get the result you want depending on defensive shifts.

One thing i cannot get though is the right analog stick when batting. It says that this gets you under or on top of the ball for grounders or fly ball influences. However it doesnt seem t do anything when i push the stick. So im not sure if this stick really does anything batting at all.

As mentioned, foul balls seem to happen more often here, not as annoyingly often as I have read in reviews, but it forces you to perfect your timing.

Pitching so reminds me of MVP and works very well so not much to review here as it feels the same. I never agree the catcher on calls though =P

I must say baserunning will take ALOT of getting used to from MVP to this. For me at least.

So what say you guys about the right analog thing I mentioned.

btw Wifi is amazingly slow when downloading on this thing, and I will try an online game later and see how it is. I checked alot of forums and many guys seem to have slow wifi even though their internet is fast. A Sony issue=/. Hope its fixed.

This is actually one of the things that annoys me the most about The Show's hitting system.

Hell just a few minutes ago Beltran hit a HR on a pitch that was low and out of the zone. Most lefties in real life love the down-and-in pitch but you rarely hit it for HR's or 2B's in The Show.

My other gripe is that The Show is essentially a single-fest. Not a lot of 2B's but your can obviously hit your fair share of HR's with slider adjusting.

Glad your enjoying the game though, there is a lot to like about, that's for sure.

Dude who you telling? A lefty myself, in high school I sat on low and in endlessly. I could always turn the best on that pitch location. After a couple at bats the opposing coach prolly told his guys that, because Id always get away junk for the rest of the game.

I remember in one tourney for an independent league i was in, I actually tried going righty for a game because I just couldnt hit this lefty who I faced before. And jeez as a righty I could not for the life of me bend my arms in the right way that I could protect the whole zone. Anything inside I could not touch. I could hit stuff away ok though, but that was it for that experiment lol.

Btw Ill see how many Homers I get ina few games without touching sliders. I hate usings sliders unless I have to make it harder. But if I hit little hr's without slider adjustments, so be it. More challenge

I just finished a game against the White Sox, and the line score read:

(10 Innings)

CHC - 2 / 9 / 1

Derrek Lee homered and Fukudome doubled with all kinds of variation in hit types.

After 80 games (as the Cubs @ 40-40)

Doubles - 95 (a little low, better after tweaking)

Triples - 7

Home Runs - 74

Everyone plays differently, so these could be used as a base for whoever wants to try them. I am personally better at pitching than hitting, so whoever tries these sliders may keep your eye on the hitting quality and power sliders.

My games are full of variance in hit types, bloopers, line drives, more doubles and triples, and just about every scenario you can imagine in a baseball game. Keep in mind a video game will never be perfect, so getting the game tough and competitive has always been my goal.

I just came off a 6 game win streak to inch my way into 2nd place in a very weak division, and now am in the middle of losing three straight, 5 games out of first place, and sitting at 40-40.

There's a Player 1, and Player 2, and a CPU.

I've never played against another player yet on my system, so all of the P2 sliders should be set to zero. (unless I've accidently moved one).

Does the right stick really do anything during batting? It says its spose to influence fly or ground balls but I dont see anything happening. Even with the hitting circle visible I still see nothing happen.

I hope they dont expect you to find the pitch with the left stick, influence with the right stick, and press a swing button at the same time =P

You need to use the left analog stick while batting, the right stick is for using when "guess pitch" is on, you would pick your pitch and use the right stick to choose location before the pitcher is ready.

No, I've never used it and my games seem to play competitve enough. Hitting and fielding are fairly accurate and realistic. I do use the right analog stick to slide while running, ie up for head first, down for feet first, but that's it.

In other words, I didn't feel the need to fix something that wasn't broke.

I have a playstation and I lag out of every game I play yet on my xbox I always have perfect connection. My cousin and his sisters boyfriend have the same issues. Whenever I have someone come into work to buy a game they complain about playstations network being laggy and horrible.

I started hitting by pushing the right analog stick down after doing the guess pitch option and I seem to be hitting the ball with some sort of super power, cause everything is going mad far and fast whether it be in the zone that stick press would indicate to be. Anyone care to explain? cause I am befuddled that I didn't find this earlier.

Um no you use the left stick to guess location as I have been doing in all games. The book and game says that you use the right stick to influence falys or grounders, but itd be extra hard to do that while selecting bat location and swinging.

Thats the shame of a free service. Funny thing is that Wii's free service seems lag free on Brawl =/

And Im going to have to get a 50ft ethernet cable and run it along the walls into my room because the Wifi can just be slow as hell at times even with a 90% connection. Ive seen this problem in many forums for some people using wireless. Especially at the sony forums for ps3.

So far I am pleased with my purchase but have two big gripes.

Firstly, the fact that I cannot play demos online. With my xbox 360 that I had about a year or so back, I could play demos online against people. And although im not a moto fan, I had so much fun playing MotoGP that I had to buy it to play online.

Secondly, the slow wifi. Im hoping that wired does not suffer slow downloads and I am yet to play an online game so I will test this later. What connection do you use ?

These two things make me miss 360 just a bit seeing as I mainly got this system for the Show. Plus I did sorta like the Xbox Live main page bulletins the best, Instead of having to navigate all the way to the PS store just to see whats new. But the web browser def makes up for ths =D Xbox is capable of this with media center but its slow as hell and not available by default.

The right stick didnt seem to do anything to my hitting at all. Did not seem to change outcomes a bit. Hmm ima search online to see if it really does anything, because nothing would indicate so, as no indicators show on screen and the hitting circle doesnt move up or down.

I remember in all star baseball for n64 that you would influence hit types and then the batting suqare would face a certain direction.
