Can't win a game !!!!

What must I do to win a game against the computer??? The opposing pitchers all average 10 strikeouts a game, I leave runners stranded in scoring positions, Can't hit homeruns. I'm using sliders on all-star mode. I forget the name of the guy, whose sliders I'm using, but they aren't working. Any tips on how to get realistic results would be greatly appreciated. I just want to beat the computer every now and then, damn.

use sliders on a lower level

There's an option. I'm sure you feel like the Jays now - always on base, never getting home. But try and use some textbook baseball, it helps me get out of jams. Steal a base, pinch run for a slower runner, use a lefty hitter against a righty (vice versa), try sac bunts/bunt for a base hit, etc. Do whatever you can to get the run in, and then just make sure your pitching can hold it out. Make sure you adjust your lineup according to who is pitching, how hard they throw, what arm they throw with, etc. For example, try and use righty hitters against a lefty pitcher, assuming that their stats increase like this, and if the pitcher has a quick delivery or throws hard, use your power hitters in the 2-3-4-5-6 spot, and use speed in the 1-7-8 spot. Or, if the pitcher is slow, try using your speed hitters at the 1-2-3-6 and reserve the power hitters for 4-7-8.

Also, you can try the pro level and if you don't want to do that, try to play on mvp level for a little bit until you get used to or comfortable with it. And then when you go back to all-star mode, it should be easier.

Remember that each level has its own set of sliders so maybe you can use the same sliders for each mode while you do this .... also it takes time to get used to it. Right now, in all star mode, I'm 2-12 with the Mets who are ranked #1 right now ... so I kind of know what you might be going through.

But, modifying the sliders you are using may be a good idea. Two nice threads to look through about sliders are Official Siders Thread and Slider Definitions.

Good luck.

WOW....my first post....hehe....This is a wonderfull site....I own this game since it came out and never stop playing, but took some time off....and after I found this site, I'm all over it once again. I can't wait to MVP 08.

My advise for you is to start at a lower level for example Pro, until you get used to it, then after you just beat easily the cpu you can go up to the next level, that's how you improve your skills and advance in the game.

I tell you that for my experience, I started like that and now I only play at MVP level and my current dynasty record with the RedSOx is 4-0

I turned off strike zone, throw meter, hot zones, picth cursor to fade (I have problem with the vibration drivers for my gamepad so I can't turn it off), Fielding MVP, vector line off.

The only settings I use for playing are Catch circle assist and hitters eye

I think that your problem is hitting. First of all, use bunt/hit and run/steal base.

You can bunt when your pitcher is up to bat (don't bunt with bases empty and loaded and runner on third) or when your offense is struggling to get hits to move a runner to second. Don't bunt a runner when you are losing by 4 or 5 runs. Bunt when you are down by 1, 2 and 3 runs.

You can steal a base with a fast runner and with a 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 count.

You can hit and run: with 2 outs and a 3-2 count, with a hitter that usually hits the ball to the right side of the field, so the runner on first will easily go to third.

Hitting is not tough. first of all, choose your pitch. I usually take strike 1, so that the pitcher will get tired sooner (Tired pitcher=mistake pitches). you have to know your hitter strenghts: for example, if your hitter likes fastball, wait for the fastball and hit it. There are a lot of "strategies" you can do when you're hitting. For example if the runner is at second, you can hit the ball to right so that the runner is likely going to go to third. when there's a runner at third and there are less then 2 out you can try for a sacrifice fly. Try to elevate the pitch and the runner will score.

Thx for the tips guys however, I've tried a lot of those suggestions to no avail. The part I really hate is when some of those pitchers seem un-hitable. The inside fastball is really hard for me to hit, as well as off-speed pitches. Another bug is when the ump says I didnt check my swing when I know I didn't go around. Drives me nuts !!!

In regards to the check swing, it's like the umps in a real game! I've recently been getting into this game alot since I found this site and I feel I get alot more runs when I hit opposite field with Theriot, Soriano, and Pie. With those three 9/10 times they get on base with opposite field hits and more than likely it will be a double or triple, Theriot is leading with 13 triples now. Also are you trying to hit HR's alot but instead your welcomed with majestic pop outs? When I have 2 strikes against me I no longer look for the "Magic" pitch but ready to bat defensively. It makes a big difference.

One thing that helped me to improve my hitting was the hitting minigame at the MVP level or All Star level, that helped me a lot with the inside pitches.

Try it with both, right and left handed batters vs both type of pitchers. it really helps.
