Homer
it's not supposed to be easy to do, so you shouldn't be doing it much unless on a ball in the dirt.
meteamo
One thing you can try is that when you have a guy on third and first, try stealing second. If they throw the ball to second, try stealing home if you are able to do so. I guess that's the most common attempt in real life.
HardcoreLegend
The reason it is even harder to do is that you can't just simply run. You have to wait for the pitcher to throw the ball before you can take off. Like Jeter last night taking a 30 foot lead vs the shift in Pittsburgh, you can't do that in MVP. It is one of the things that bothers me about MVP, how impossible it is to always get an above average jump.
TrumpeteerNYR
I've done it before several times, but it's not easy...it's always with a lefty pitcher on the mound as well. If you have a really quick guy with a pitcher like Wakefield, it's more likely...a double steal is always a good call too. There's no easy way, a lot of it is luck. MrDudleyDoWright
If you have a runner at first, have the runner go, then at the instant the catcher throws the ball, have your guy at third bust down home. I do it all the time on and offline.

TheBaseballer
I always steal without a throw! I do it like this: When I steal second I press the button to steal home .. When I'am almost reaching second I stop!.. When I steal 3rd I do the same thing!.. Try It.. It's funny! Well..But To steal home base.. I double steal :S

gowingsgo8803
It is very tough. If you have someone like Reyes, Kinsler, Ichiro, etc., I guess it's possible to do it by stealing home and hoping you get a decent jump, along with the pitch hitting the dirt. I've never stolen home before other than on a wild pitch, but against a pitcher like Wakefield or Moyer, or someone with low velocity/knuckleballs, I'd assume it's possible. caliboyrob
There is a simple way of stealing home...I have done it 5 maybe 6 times this season so far. But I am kind of cheating in a way too... On the sliders, I have User Baserunning set to 50, and base steal delay set to -50. Also, the player I use to steal home with is maxxed out with Speed, at 99. I have been thrown out only once, only because the pitcher threw a 99mph fastball to the part of the plate facing 3rd base.

pistonj92
I don't find it that hard to get good jumps, I guess I have just found how to get good jumps. About stealing home... (in MVP) A couple days ago I was about to do the suicide squeeze. (Ron) Belliard at bat, Elijah Dukes on 3rd (77 speed in the UR that I am using). Belliard missed the bunt, the catcher caught the pitch cleanly, Dukes was still off, (because it is very hard to beat out a pickle in MVP) the catcher put out the tag, he just whiffed on the tag, no slide, Dukes steals home. It was rather cheap conditions, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
vbprogjoe
One thing you can try is that when you have a guy on third and first, try stealing second. If they throw the ball to second, try stealing home if you are able to do so. I guess that's the most common attempt in real life. Problem with this method is usually the guy stealing home from 3B doesn't get actual credit for the SB in his stats. Now if it is all about the runs, and ONLY the runs, fine go ahead and do it. I do it probably every time I have Rickie Weeks or Corey Hart on third (3B) and another (mostly Nelson Cruz or Bill Hall on first {1B} with Hart; or Hart or J.J. Hardy on 1B with Weeks). However, if you are trying to earn points in the MVP Rewards program to unlock stuff, your best bet is to steal off of a knuckleball pitcher, or ram the catcher like Pete Rose did to Fosse. RdSoxFan618
Stealing home was EASY on the PS2 version of MVP Baseball 2004. I'm not sure if PC has it, but you could press R2 and stop in the middle of the basepath. Stopping in the middle of the basepath and immediately clicking the base you want to go back to was so much faster than slipping and turning back to the base. You could get in a pickle, draw the throw, and immediately go back using the stop and run method and score. Then when you got home, you could use 'the glitch'. I found this w/ my friend. I went home, then turned back right as I touched home plate. The play ended and the screen went to the next batter w/ that guy on 3rd again and the extra run. It works good in multiplayer, because when you stop, people think you are turning around, so they start throwing to the base, and you only have 30 feet to the other base and you get in easy. LOL @ Pete Rose Ram BTW ... what's the reward pts for a steal of home? I stole home and ended up railroading the catcher, making him lose the ball, and I didn't get the MVP Credit for stealing home. vbprogjoe
Oh, no? That sucks. I guess that's one thing they could change if another PC Baseball game ever comes out. LOL @ Pete Rose Ram BTW ... what's the reward pts for a steal of home? How do you railroad the catcher? In MVP Baseball 2004, which is what I have, it is worth 50 points. Just last night I did it another way (and got credit). If you have runners on 1st and 3rd, and the pitcher attempts a pickoff to 1st, and your runner at 3rd already was leaving for home, and the runner at third has blazing speed like Corey Hart or Jose Reyes, then chances are it will work.
