compmaniac
Which is more suitable for walking? Baksetball shoes or running shoes?
TrumpeteerNYR
Running shoes. They're lighter, provide more support and flexibility, and they should be more comfortable. Take it from an experienced Runner :D
sobehound
Why would you go for basketball shoes?
duckdodger215
running shoes should be worn during any event in which you aren't working (industrial) or working out (weight training). you wear basketball shoes when you play basketball... to absorb the force the floor exerts on you when you land from jumping, and to help prevent ankle twists/sprains. duckdodger215
but, you know some companys, such as new balance, make 'walking' shoes, right?
compmaniac
Do basketball shoes give any competitive advantage in basketball? Just as jumping higher? And is it ok to wear running shoes just to play some casual basketball like once or twice?
TrumpeteerNYR
Yeah wearing Running shoes shouldn't affect your bball play at all - especially if it's just casual.
mrmet06
Well, I never wear basketball shoes when I play basketball, and I haven't died yet. Not only that, but the flexibility of a running shoe sole does help your jumpshot (I've found).
wrigleyville33
Basketball shoes are used so you don't slip as much on the court and you can also cut/take sharper turns..... I think.
compmaniac
What's different about them that make u easier to take sharper turns?
duckdodger215
What's different about them that make u easier to take sharper turns? try making a quick move in a pair of running shoes... chances are your ankle will turn over. this won't happen near as often with basketball shoes. MarkB
Usually a higher ankle to provide support so that you don't have to worry about turning over on it.
ehhh
Bball shoes are a must when playing ball, for ankle support and comfort. I usually don't wear a pair that costs less than $120, after I had a stress fracture while playing college ball I decided enough was enough with cheaper kicks. compmaniac
So would basketball shoes be way more uncomfortable than running shoes when walking? Or just a slight difference?
Tigers94
I've never really tried bball shoes, but I just recently got some new nikes, the sparq training ones, besides looking sweet, they are super light and a ton of grip. I think it would make a difference, but you won't die, lol.
gowingsgo8803
I prefer basketball shoes over running, regardless of the situation. B-ball shoes are better looking, they're designed nicer, but they cost more. Generally speaking, basketball shoes have lower support on the ankles (i.e. nike, reebok, adidas, and 1, etc.) over the regular walking shoe (i.e. new balance, nike, adidas, converse, etc). I like the ball shoes better for comfort and style, but it's really just a personal choice
