Router names

Dear MVPMods,

Just got a new wireless router. Works fine. Default SSID is "Default". Don't like "Default". Need new name.

Post number ending in number 9 decides my router name. First to 9 wins.

Unfortunately, I have a police station within reach of the wireless signal, so I'm strongly temped to pick a name based on that alone, but I'll leave it up to you guys.

GO GO GO GO GO

(Also, what are your router names?)

I just noticed the cop post, you could always do something like

ICETcopkilla

Well, this post wins the "9" comp, but is disqualified due to it being terrible.

I'm strongly tempted to either just hide it for improved security, or just name it "Goatse.cx" and be done with it.

That's an idea. LOL

Good luck with your decision no matter what you decide.

You can name your router after your favorite TV show, movie or Rap Group and than each computer in the network can have something to do with it ... or you can have some type of general theme, for example:

Network Name ... WootangClan

Computer Names ... Rza, ODB, MethodMan, etc

Network Name ... BendersWorld

Computer Names ... Bender, Bender, Bender, Bender

Network Name .. Flintstones

Computer Names ... Fred, Wilma, Pebbles, BamBam, etc

Network Name ... HipHopBaseball

Computer Names ... Trenton, Thunder, TuPac, Biggie, IceCube

Network Name ... MVP

Computer Names ... Kraw, KG, Raptor, HCL, etc

Where I used to work, the names of all the servers and computers were named after 1960 and 1970 cop shows ... like Starsky, Hutch, Columbo, Dragnet, ModSquad, FiveOh, Mannix, Kojak, Banacek, etc. My computer name bucked the trend ... mine was grasshopper and my laptop is currently Maddhatter.

I only meant it as a joke played off of Ice T's song

Now THAT is funny.

Our wireless net at school was "Holly." The computer names were Starbug1 (my PC), Starbug2 (roommate's PC), BlueMidget (roommate's girlfriends' laptop), and GarbagePod (old PC we used as a music server).

hahahaha.

Brings back memories.

The password was "gosmegyourself"

BlueMidget sounds like it could be DJ's computer lol

Boy, does my name *not* belong in a list with people who actually contribute.

Those were the only names I could think of at the moment that sounded like Computer Names.

I mean ... who would name their computer Y4L? :lmao: just joking

But, personally, I like BendersWorld: Bender Bender Bender Bender. It suits Bender's Personality and kind of sounds like George Foreman's Wi-Fi Network: George George George George George. Makes me wonder what Michael Jackson's network is. LOL - no comment.

Take care.

*edit*

Caturday as mentioned above would be a good idea too.
