MarkB
Find the hist.dat file, right click on it, click properties, then remove the check from the read only box. Click Apply, then OK, and try to export again.

The read only is unchecked and each every time i try and open the hist.dat in notepad it opens in a garbled mess. It only is happening with the hist.dat file. Any Ideas? emath2432
This may be a dumb suggestion, but I am just trying to think of anything that may help... The only thing that I know of that can cause this is the file is read only. But, since you say it isn't checked... I don't know. Try making it read only. Then go, back and try to uncheck it again... Hell, I don't know, it probably isn't gonna work, but it's something... EDIT: Maybe the hist.dat file is corrupt. Try replacing it with the original from the cd, and then export. See if that helps. stecropper
also you may try checking the "Read Only" property setting for the directory that file is in which I think is the database directory and also if it is not set to "Read Only" then check the data directory settings ....... it may be that some higher level "Read Only" setting is causing the problem. myseason
Well, I found the answer in another thread. It had to do with a Vista security issue where you have to go into the properties and select the authorize user permissions. It appears it only happens with the Hist.dat. I appreciate those that responded. Thanks
emath2432
Glad you found it. Nothing more frustrating than something that should be working, and it isn't...
