How many concerts have you been to?

Went to my first concert just last winter, saw the Newsboys for free (I've never heard of them before, they were pretty tight, i'll link you guys to an awesome video later in this post.)

But after that I decided I needed to go to more concerts. So I ended up going to a Switchfoot concert last Spring, and then I went to the Jimmy Eat World (+ Paramore, feat. Dear and the Headlights). I plan on going to more, and I'm really really desperately wanting to go see the Foo Fighters sometime.

Lol, thanks for reminding me. I also went to a Newsboys concert last year.

Rascal Flatts

The Roots

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Genesis

The Killers

Billy Joel

Tokyo Police Club (probably one of my faves, and it was free).

This September I'm seeing both Oasis and the Foo Fighter at Virgin Fest here in Toronto.

Lets see, in nearly 20 years since I was 10, I've seen ....

REM (twice), New Order, Echo & teh Bunnymen, PIL, Sugarcubes, Depeche Mode (twice), Prodigy, Green Day (twice), Blink 182 (twice), Everclear, 311, Stabing Westward (twice), Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Bush, Beck, Staind, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Travis (twice), Coldplay (4 times), Radiohead (3 times), The Strokes, Muse.

I'd love to go to a major festival someday like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonaroo. Even the ones in England liek Leeds or Reading festivals.

I've been to a lot of freakin' concerts.

Probably at least 30 or 35.

My first? Yes, I remember.

Huey Lewis and the News, baby! :)

Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

In '87, Huey released Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics.

But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

:lmao:

I've seen R.E.M. five times for starters, Death Cab for Cutie twice, I have my second Radiohead concert on Aug. 3, but I have hit up at least 20 since y first back in 89.... New Kids on the Block with my sister.

Best concert was Muse at Mesa Ampitheater... for a taste of thier live shows pick up their live H.A.A.R.P. CD. They are amazing. Page and Plant was great as was AC/DC.

fred13, where did you see Justice?

I saw them at Madison Square Garden on March 11th

Sound Factory in Toronto, last March.

Pirate, how'd you like Death Cab? I saw them at the beginning of June, forgot to put it up there. I liked them, but I really went for the opening act, STARS.

I've been to a few concerts in my late teens, early 20s. Can't remember the bands though. But the best concert experience for me personally was seeing U2 during their PopMart tour with a 40 foot lemon in '97. They came through my city for the first and could be the last time during that tour.

U2 is better live than studio. Some groups sound great in the studio but blow chunks live. For U2, they sound good in the studio but sound even better live. Also, I find with concerts, some songs that didn't sound great or stand out on the album, they manage to make it better live.

Maiden are an insane band. Ive seen them twice and they never fail. They always play older stuff and the divide there shows up by cd so like its 15 min is the first etc. etc.

No one will surpass Rush as the greatest show i have ever seen performance wise.

Hell yeah, they were great.

I loved how during the show they had chickens roasting behind Geddy.

Haha, It took me about 2 songs to realize wow those are chickens behind him. Nothing beats the random south park tom sawyer intro though.

Went and saw the Eagles last night. One of the best shows I've ever saw. They played a lot more of their newer stuff than I would have liked, but they still played most of the classics. The longest show I've ever been to that didn't have an opening act. They played for almost three and a half hours.
