Earthquake In LA

This was nothing compared to the '94 Northridge Quake. That one damaged Anaheim Stadium, did a LOT of damage all over SoCal.

Today, this was more of a wake up call. A nice welcome to the late morning, but nothing that was really serious. 5.4 (originally reported at 5.8), well that's barely enough to make the national news. It's just been so long since one hit so close. Really it's been a long time since any kind of serious quake hit here.

We were definately overdue, and still are for a big one...

Yeah I was at the epicenter in Chino Hills. Not worthy of national news or the governator. I wasn't around northridge at the time so this was the biggest thing I've felt though. I suppose it's more jumpy at the epicenter. I would agree the big one is still coming. Maybe it's time to move again or get some kind of earthquake kit.

I was about 20 miles away when it happened. I was in a library and all of a sudden everything starts shaking. People starting running out the doors and diving under the desks. The shaking lasted about 30 seconds. Then they evacuated the whole builing afterwards to check for damage.

Well, I'd much rather deal with a major quake in a place that is fairly well prepared for one (we're not in China or South America here), then deal with Hurricanes and/or Tornadoes.

Sure you have some warning with those, but its still a more constant problem than quakes.
