danc
Hey, Total Classics 51!!! Fantastic. Question. I made the mistake of installing the new mlb2k8 to my original mlb2k5 directory. I know. Stupid. I was wondering if I could just use the 2k8 install in the same way as I used the 2k5 install in order to install tc51 to a separate directory? Is this mod compatable with 2k8? If not, how can I get a fresh install of 2k5 somewhere on my system so that I can use that as a base for tc51? I have multiple installs of every TC season. I love them. Homer
it's not recommended. we know that people who install conversion mods over another have problems. of course, you never know. but if it happens, don't be surprised. it sucks, but do this: 1. copy the contents of your 08 mod and paste it into the correct folder or any folder you wish it to be. this way you have your 08 mod saved. 2. uninstall the game, which will uninstall everything in your 05 directory, and re-install the 05 one again and go from there. 3. for future reference, before you do anything to that 05 directory, install the official patches to your 05 directory and then copy the entire folder and paste it somewhere on your computer as a backup. DC I wouldn't do that, as there is no guarantee that there won't be conflicts between files changed for MVP08 and TC51. I'm not sure how to get a new "default" version of MVP2005 unless without messing up what you've got. What you could do for TC1951 is make a copy of your TC1956 installation and then install TC1951 on top of it. TC1951 is probably most like TC1956 (and uses a number of the same files), so you should be safe to install it this way.
danc
Wow, Thanks guys. Jim, That sounds interesting. Will give it a try. Thought you might like to know what has happened so far: Installed and went to creat dynasty. Could not get my options to apply. Went to EAMods MVP file in Docs and put the 05 options file that I had saved prior in the doc directory with 08's options file. Played a couple '51 games. No problem. All dynasty files saved to EAMods Mvp document file. Therfore, it has ended up giving me a separate doc's directory to store dynasties in which is great because of the 4 dynasty limit. (I now have ten separate mods on my system 8 seasons, total classics, and MVP08) BTW, the dynasty's are saved as Dynasty files not Franchise files. Homer, If I do that won't I just have to reinstall 08 again?
danc
Well, After multiple crashes using 2k8 I decided to take Homer's advice and uninstall. NO CAN DO!! Tried to use the eauninstall in my 2k5 directory.... HANG.... Tried to unistall using control panel. Guess what?? No where to be found. The damn program does not show in Control Panel!! At this point I am very krawskeptical. Help.
Yankee4Life
Krawskeptical? How does this have anything to do with him?
krawhitham
delete the folders one where you installed the main game and another where your dynasty files are their is NO uninstall option besides deleting It does not use EA installer to install so the EA uninstaller would not work The install that 08 does is nothing more that coping files from CDs to the HD, which would explain why you see nothing in the Control Panel
danc
Thanks. I did not completely delete the directory that I installed 2k5 to originally because all of my downloaded files are in that directory. I will do that next intall after backing up. My main problems are the messages I get in two situations: 1. While installing 2k8 to it's own directory (after copying the *.tit to that directory), I get the message that the unistall file can not be found and therefore I must terminate the install!!!! 2. While trying to update the reinstalled 2k5 to 2k5 v. 5 I get the message "missing or invalid registy/ini". Any help appreciated.
danc
Thanks kraw. Sorry for the spite....just frustrated. Have reinstalled after deleting folders and all seems well ... exept.. datafile.big and datafile.txt!! Not sure what to do with these two. I will try a couple games copying datafile.txt to the data directory without changing datafile.big. Thought it might be the cause of crashes....
danc
Also... ingame.big and igonly.big!! Want to go to previous files. I will test.
