pdrpunk
So... I have MLB08 installed and ready to go. But there's one thing that I've always wanted to do in a PC Baseball game: Manually update a franchise season to correspond to the real world MLB. I think what I want to do is start a new franchise, sim to the current date (August 5 in this case) and then get into the save file and update the standings, stats, etc. to reflect what's going on in real life. That way I can play out the rest of the season my way, but have a realistic starting point. I realize this may be hopelessly difficult, but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone knows if this is possible and if so, how can I do it? BigPaPa
There is a tool called the Team changer which you cna find in the DL section. That tool combined with the ability to turn off both budjets and Fair Trades allows you to do that exactly.

Alt+Tab out of the game and run tywiggins' .dat importer/exporter to export the .DAT files from your current franchise. Updating the player stats would be extremely tedious but the best way to do it would be to import the .dat files into mvpedit and edit the stats. To update the standings you would need to edit tstat.dat (can be opened using a text editor). Once you have made all your changes use the importer/exporter program to export the .dat files back into the game. What you are trying to do is easy, but extremely time consuming. EXTREMELY! Thank you. I will give that a shot and likely give up on it early on in the process... I really only care about the stats of the players on my team, so hopefully that won't take as long. redsox
If you are editing stats for players just on your team, then it shouldn't take long at all. All you need to use for that is mvpedit, but to update the standings, you need to edit the .dat file manually in a text editor.
