Gordo
I've search high and low (I truly dislike the search function on this site), but I know I've read a post somewhere which spells out how to turn off the dual core which may interfere MVP running. I'm also attempting to run this on a Toshiba laptop with VISTA (32 bit). thx in advance.
MarkB
If you just want to set MVP, or any process, to only use one core, you need to change it's affinity. To do this, open Task Manager (right click on the taskbar and choose Task Manager), then go to the processes tab. Click on the process you want to change, then go to Set Affinity and choose which core you want to use.
Gordo
I can't minimize the damn game to get to the task manager to do anything. Once I minimize it, Vista closes it down. update: okay I got to the point of minimizing it. I found the affinity options. I tried both "cpu 0" and "cpu 1" separately. Crashed both times just as I'm about to enter the game. I hate fk'in Vista.
MarkB
In that case, it wouldn't appear to be the dual core CPU that's causing the problem. Are you logged in as an admin?
Gordo
When I didn't use the modified mvp.exe (rez changer) and went back to the original, I was finally able to get into the game, minimize, do the affinity change, but I was gettting a hilatious sluggishness in the game. If it comes down to Vista being drained off by so many things, plus it's a laptop....it's just not worth it. Thank God my desktop vid card miraculously came back to life last nite. Thx for the help, Mark.
MarkB
Yeah, desktop video cards almost always own laptop ones. No problem at all. Glad you can play again. :)
