MarkB
I've had this issue with Vista for a while, but have never figured it out. A quick search shows that although not many people have noticed it, I'm not alone. The test; Find a directory with more than 15 files of the same type - for example, a folder containing 15+ mp3 files. Select 5 files, then right-click on them and note your options, as well as the options on the tasks list below the toolbar. Next, select all the mp3 files, then right-click on them and note your options. Post results, as well as your version of Vista. I'm using Home Premium. Can't figure it out, but I'd like to see if there's any trend with it.
seanzarelli
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit I'm assuming this is what you meant to do for the test
MarkB
Yep, that's exactly it, thanks nus. On my system, when selecting more than 15 files, the play task defaults back to Windows Media Player, instead of remaining at Winamp, despite the file association being set to Winamp, and the contexg menu only has the WMP options, with the Winamp ones being removed. MarkB
Yeah - I'm tempted to call Microsoft about it when I'm at work, but I get the feeling I'll be told it's a "feature" of Vista, instead of the "screw up that the programmers failed to address at the multi-decimal stages of alpha and beta testing" truth.
