TBS MLB Font

Curious if anyone can help me out. I'm making new templates for the post season this year, and after seeing the TBS presentation last year, I have been looking for their font for quite awhile. I found one that is close, it's called Kroftsman, but as you can see in the pics it's still a little off.

If anyone knows of anything, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Someone uploaded a bunch of TBS TV graphics last year, if I'm not mistaken, it was HCL, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, if I have a pic of it, I can more than likely make it. I'd still love to find this font if it does in fact exist.

As you can see here, the smaller this text is, the more distorted it becomes. The TBS font almost has the "stencil" effect.

Yeah, you're right. The font you used looks good though. There are a few sites where you can temporarily upload a picture and it'll tell you the font if it can and a few others that will ask you various questions about the letters. I think I've seen this font but I don't remember where though.

I took a few shots a while ago and some may or may not be of use to you. Here's the link: http://www.radicalgenius.com/meteamoTBS

Good luck.

Thanks HCL, I do still have all the pics you uploaded. Some great shots by the way. To be honest, I have no idea where to even start to make my own font. If someone can lead me in the right direction, I guarantee I'll make the font.

Is this something that can be done in Photoshop somehow? Forgive my ignorance.

hey JoeRudi ever thought of going into making overlays for in-game gameplay?

your creations are very good.

Thanks, Geo. Actually I have searched the site for overlay tutorials and found an old one, but if I remember right it was for MVP 2004. I did ask a couple times last year, but I didn't get too many responses.

If I had a detailed tutorial, I would put my time into making some killer in game overlays.

I wouldn't mind a nice JoeRudi MLB overlay with the scoreboard on the bottom :)

nice next-gen look.

If anyone knows of a good tutorial, or would be kind enough to post one, I'd love to give it a shot. I'm digging through some font making tutorials and I'm going to make something close to what TBS has on their graphics.

I'd love to make a set of TBS overlays for the game.

I've tried to find the time to get this overlay done but it's just not going to happen. :(

As for an overlay tutorial, I'd be more than willing to help you in any way I can. Maybe we can get together in the chat room to discuss.

Let me know man.

Thanks Trues, nothing like learning from the master overlay maker himself. Fortunately for me, winter slows down enough for me to do this sort of thing, and I'd love to learn how. Tell me once, and I have it, so therefore it wouldn't be taking too much of your time, I understand that you've been extremely busy.

Like I said, I'll be pretty flexible for the next couple of months, so whenever you get the time, shoot me a PM and let me know.

Thanks again.

Just thought I'd share this new 'find' for the guys that are presenting dynasties and using Photoshop. It's a simple effect that gives your pics a great feel.

1. Duplicate the pic (layer

2. On the duplicated layer, set the blending mode to Overlay

3. On the duplicated layer, set the opacity to 65% (or to your liking)

4. On the duplicated layer, go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur (set to 8.0)

Here is the final result

It's not extremely noticable on the Shea pic, probably because it's dark to begin with. But it works great with about any other pic.

  • 1 year later...

I apologise for bumping up this thread but I was wondering if anybody ended up finding or creating the TBS font shown here:

I am desperate for it and am willing to pay for it!

Cheers. *fingers crossed* :D
