masternachos
This may seem silly, and I don't even know if I'm in the right spot, BUT... I just installed the mvp 2007 mod. I must say, it is awesome. However, I am a bit upset that it got rid of some players from 2005... players I liked to use. Is there a way to bring back those players who are 'retired' or whatnot and have them be in mvp 07? Like Roberto Alomar, Fred McGriff, Rocky Biddle, etc.? If not, that's fine, but if there is a way, I'd like to know about it. Thanks for the help.
MarkB
Yep. Using MVPEdit, import the database folder of your MVP '07 install and save it into a .mbe file. Export the players you want in the MVP '07 install from your existing roster. Import those players to wherever you want in the MVP '07 roster. Export the MVP '07 roster into the database folder of your MVP '07 install. Voila. :)
masternachos
I tried downloading mvpedit, but when I try to run it, it says "Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid". What did I do wrong?
MarkB
Download and install this file, and launch it again.
masternachos
Thanks, I got mvpedit to load. I'll try the roster thing tomorrow, if I have trouble I'll post again. Again, thanks a lot!
MarkB
No problem, just give us a shout if you need any more help. :)
masternachos
OK, I am really bad with computers. I was able to save the mvp 07 database as an .mbe file, but I can't find which folder would be the 'default' roster. Could this be by any chance because I saved the mvp 07 over the original? If not, I would appreciate a step-by-step for-dummies-type instruction list for this, with names of documents and all that. :?
masternachos
See? I can't even get this thing to italicize correctly!
MarkB
Easy things first - to use italics, you use the [ i] and [/ i] tag, without the spaces. The forward slash indicates the end of the italics. Now, if you installed MVP '07 over your default '05 install, you can still get the old rosters that came with the game from the CDs. If I remember correctly, they're in the compressed.zip file on CD 2. Just copy them to a new folder, on your desktop, for example, and create an .mbe file from them by importing the folder into MVPEdit, the same way you did with the '07 roster. masternachos
I really appreciate the help (see? I can learn), but how do I get files that are on my CD? Is there a folder that I'm just not seeing?
MarkB
My bad, the compressed.zip file is actually on CD 1. Inside that, there's a data folder, then a database folder inside that. Copy the database folder to your desktop, then just import to MVPEdit as normal. That will have the default MVP '05 rosters.
masternachos
OK, I finally found the compressed.zip file, and the data file, but when I click to open the data file, it won't open. Should I extract the files from it?
MarkB
Nope - you need the data folder instead of the file. Inside that folder, you'll find the database folder.
masternachos
OK, I was able to find everything, and I took my players form 05 and put them in the rosters of 07. I tried exporting the roster into the database folder, but near the end of the process, it says "the file hist.dat is read-only and cannot be overwritten. Export halted." Am I exporting it to the wrong place?
xiberger
Remove the read-only attribute for hist.dat and you should be fine.
masternachos
Where do I find the hist.dat so I can make it not read-only?
xiberger
In your game's database folder.
masternachos
I tried, but it said hist.dat was already not read-only (via the check box that says "read only," which was not checkmarked).
xiberger
Are you using Vista? If so, then try the solution given in this thread.
masternachos
I did have Vista. That is why the following celebration is justified: I DID IT! All my old players are back! :stickman: And, if I have further troubles in this vein, I'll know what to do. Thank-you all so very much for helping me out. If I have other questions, I will ask (but I'll search the forums first). Again, thanks!
