MVPMods 2008 Playoffs Simulation

Some of you may remember my Cubs dynasty last year (Beyond The Ivy), but obviously some members are new to the site so I'll go ahead and lay the ground work as to how I usually present my games, in this case the 2008 MLB Playoffs. I had gotten away from MVP the whole season, but couldn't help to pick it back up and at least play through the post season.

With the use of MVP Edit, The Team Changer, The Boxscore Extractor, and The Playoff Creator, I was able to comprise realistic rosters for each of the teams that are in the playoffs this year, and put together the playoff brackett as it is in real life. Instead of controlling one team, I've decided to control four teams, so each and every game will be played. The teams I have chosen are in bold:

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs

Milwaukee Brewers @ Philadelphia Phillies

Chicago White Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays

Boston Red Sox @ Anaheim Angels

**The home and away teams ARE correct, for some reason they come out backwards in the Playoff Tree Screen**

Instead of saving the games, I will just play and present each one individually, keeping track on my own of winners and losers, who does and does not advance. This way the computer will not mix the lineups, and I'll have more control throughout each game.

I will present the games in question after the real life game has been played, this allows me to re create that certain lineup for that certain day, correct starting pitchers and so on. The only thing I cannot control will be injuries. I'll be catching up in the next day or so, so I will be presenting the games the same day as the real life games are played.

These are my settings, and I'll do my best to pull this off and present it to the best of my ability. I hope you all enjoy it.

Insanely nice layout - how long did it take to make it?

Thanks man, I actually made these templates last year, and dug them out and "modernized" them a little. After presenting every game last year, I took a break and really didn't think I'd do this again.

But man, it's October. I can't help it. :D

Hey JR, I know there was a tussle in one of my dynasty threads a few weeks back, but I wanted to let you know that I love the work you put into your dynasties. This one is no different, and I hope that you dont think any less of me for stuff that I had stated about photoshop guys. It was blown way out of proportion, and I was mostly to blame for it. People look up to you when it comes to dynasty presentation. Your the best at it, and it is definitely recognized and appreciated. Thanks for keeping us all entertained with your hard work. This looks great and cant wait for the second round already...lol

I haven't seen the thread, so I really can't respond to it. I'm not sure if you've read through any of my dynasty last year, but if you did, you will know that essentially the presentation (Photoshop) was the least important part of the whole dynasty. The game is first and foremost the most important part, maintaining the utmost accuracy and the integrity of the day to day (or game to game) stats, and then I would say the visuals would be next.

But the most important part to me is keeping my word and finishing what I started.

With that said, presenting a dynasty is really an individual creation. How could I ever tell someone else what they 'feel' is the right way to do it?

Either way, I'm going forward and hope the majority of people enjoy following along.

Up next to finish the Oct. 1st games:

Milwaukee @ Philadelphia

Boston @ LAA

For some reason I can't log into the boxscore extractor page, so I'll go ahead and post the game 1 boxscore between the Dodgers and the Cubs on October 1st. As you can see, I've basically made my own boxscore in my presentation, but it doesn't include the play by play. If I can't upload the boxscores from here on out, I'll just post the play by play part of it.

I just realized something that I forgot when I posted the pics of Manny last night. Russell Martin had singled and was on first base in the top of the 9th (2-1) when Ramirez hit the deep shot to right that just went foul. Instead of just tying the game, it would have in fact put the Dodgers ahead.

I won game 1 by virtually 4 feet. 8)
