New to MVP 2005

Hello,

Just wanted to introduce myself to the community.

I wanted a great baseball game for my PC and after MUCHO research I bought the best of the best.

SO FAR I LOVE IT! I only installed the game with no patches yet.

I will play the game for a few weeks to become acquainted, but would like to at least learn what to do next.

There's an EA patch. Should I install it?

What do I need to update rosters?

Stadiums? and player faces?

Make it easy for me, PLEASE!

Thanks.

Jose

Welcome aboard Jose. Hope you have a good time here.

There are numerous amounts of downloads and threads in the forums regarding the game, baseball in itself along with other topics. And there are many tools and tutorials on how to modify the game yourself if interested. One of the tools that mostly everyone has is called MVPedit in which you can modify the rosters and player history and information that the game uses. Another useful tool allows you to create a boxscore and extract the stats from the game.

Also, there is a series of Complete MVP game conversions that will 'convert' your game (screens, faces, stadiums, rosters, etc) to 2008, 1994, 1969 and other great years or eras. These are all in the downloads section (including MVPedit) in addition to the official game patches. If not found here, you can also look on MVPmods' respected site EAmods.com

Enjoy yourself and happy gaming.

Note: If you are going to install more than one year on your machine, it's best to leave a fresh install untouched in one directory so that you can just copy the directory whenever you want another year. Whether or not if the untouched directory should have the latest patch on it, I'm not sure. Someone else would know this better than I.

Another suggestion is before you mod up your current folder, simply make a straight up back-up copy and keep it next to your active MVP2005 folder. That way you can always copy the copy and then mod it with whatever other version already mentioned above. In the past I did it the hard way and re-installed multiple copies from the discs, but that's not necessary.

My GOD!

The 08 MOD is just fantastic!

It's so beautiful. The graphics, the players, stadiums, and I just started playing.

This game is now certainly worth the $96 that I paid. Just brilliant!

I guess I better consider a donation to the 08 MOD team.

Did I mention, FANTASTIC add-on.

$96 = A Video Game that will last you a lifetime (or at least as long as this forum lives on)

$50 = Generic MLB 2008

$50 = Generic MLB 2009

In 2 years you've already spent more money on worse games.

if you made the investment, take the time to search these forums on how to create a backup and use the image files to play. it's worth it. i don't have it on hand, but i remember it being on sticky somewhere.

  • 2 weeks later...

Man, I missed having this game... my local Best Buy had it in a clearance bin for $2.99 and believe me, I hopped all over it... so glad to be back playing the best baseball game of all time.

I can beat 2.99 :) .... My boss got to visit EA Sports in San Fran a few years back to install some software, and they gave him a pc copy of the game. He's too busy to play it, and gave it to me.

Thanks for the reminder of the thread to play using images, as I sure don't want to scratch my discs.

i'm sorry...did you say $2.99?

Yes I did say $2.99! Score, huh?

But I do have a problem that perhaps someone can help me with...

I've installed the 08 mod using the TiT...

now what? I open the game and nothing has been update at all... am I missing somethign totally obvious, or am I missing a step here?

you must've missed a step. don't install the game. create a folder where you want to install 08. install the latest Tit in it. download the latest 08 WS version. open Tit and direct it to the file. it should prompt you to insert your cds.

you don't have to. you can have more than one version of the game installed. like i said, just create the folder you want the game installed to. then once it's all done, with CD2 in, just make sure you double click the exe in the 08 folder.

Thanks a million Homer... now, I just have to tweak the controls... should be fun... I have the basics down, but now to map out baserunning, and other pitching abilities (pick off to certain base, etc...)
