piratesmvp04
I found all these videos on Youtube of songs that people "Chipmunk"ed. Basically, they turn up the speed of a song so that it sounds like a cassette tape playing too fast, and then they slow it down again to normal pace; this makes it sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. You can find the "Chipmunk"ized version of just about any song on Youtube. Just for fun, has anyone here ever "Chipmunk"ed a song, or do you like listening to "Chipmunk"ized songs? RaysFTW
They annoy me. It adds like a high pitched voice to the song, which is really, really annoying.

RdSoxFan618
Chipmunk songs for the most part are annoying...if the video goes along w/ the audio, then they can be funny.
pistonj92
IMO, they can be funny in rare cases and in extreme moderation.
SpaceFlare
They work for some songs while they just plain annoy me when in others. I enjoyed listening to "Mann Gegen Mann" by Rammstein in chimpunked version. The heaviness was maintained despite the high-pitched voices, and it was still something you can headbang to. "Du Hast," on the other hand, sucked with the chipmunked voices. It felt nothing like listening to the original version.
piratesmvp04
Yeah, they only work for a small few. I actually found some instructions on how to chipmunk songs using Audacity, the free audio editting software: http://www.musicouch.com/Music-Making/Digi...nks-Voice.71964. I have to try Chipmunking some songs of mine now. ;-)

RdSoxFan618
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgnLFvrtldc Sounds kinda 8-bit, doesn't it? Haha. Hint: If you have a .wav of a song, you can put it on Sound Recorder and go to Effects and increase speed. Although songs sound better increased speed by ~50%, so I would recommend dl'ing a program like Audacity and speeding it up however much you want with that (you can use .mp3's with Audacity). SpaceFlare
normally a horrible song, but I managed to crack a laugh at the chipmunked version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIVfICHJAU0 Chipmunks screaming BOAT! RUDDER! STRANGE! MOUNTAIN! EDIT: wailing chipmunks.. I didn't know Sonata Arctica songs could be sung on even higher pitches.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky08cLWPq9w
