Basically, they turn up the speed of a song so that it sounds like a cassette tape playing too fast, and then they slow it down again to normal pace; this makes it sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. You can find the "Chipmunk"ized version of just about any song on Youtube. Just for fun, has anyone here ever "Chipmunk"ed a song, or do you like listening to "Chipmunk"ized songs? I enjoyed listening to "Mann Gegen Mann" by Rammstein in chimpunked version. The heaviness was maintained despite the high-pitched voices, and it was still something you can headbang to. "Du Hast," on the other hand, sucked with the chipmunked voices. It felt nothing like listening to the original version. Hint: If you have a .wav of a song, you can put it on Sound Recorder and go to Effects and increase speed. Although songs sound better increased speed by ~50%, so I would recommend dl'ing a program like Audacity and speeding it up however much you want with that (you can use .mp3's with Audacity).
