This is getting ridiculous! After pitching so well during the first half of the season, Danny Kolb just blew his second save in three days. He came into the game in the bottom of the tenth (with one out) and gave up back-to-back homers to Ray Durham and Michael Tucker. Danny!!! :(

My Braves have now lost ten of their last 13 games. That and Chipper's injury made me take actions to stop the downward spiral. In need of a potent bat, I traded outfielder Raul Mondesi (.191, 2 HR, 13 RBI) to the Brewers for Geoff Jenkins (.238, 8 HR, 42 RBI). I'm very glad this trade got through because I couldn't hit with Mondesi anyway, and Jenkins gives me a big weapon against right-handed pitchers.

Next up is three-game series against the Dbacks at Bank One Ballpark. After that I'm finally heading back to Atlanta.

It never ends...

The only positive aspect at the moment is that my losses are quite close games. My pitching is still quite solid, but my bats have gone cold over the last two weeks. I just can't seem to hit the ball anymore.

Also, Geoff Jenkins was far from spectacular in his Braves debut. He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk and commited a fielding error in right field.

I know how frustrating it is to fall into a rut where your offense seems non-existent. 2,3 and 4 hit games can get pretty frustrating. Anyway, I find that patience is the key, I just 'sit it out' and wait for my pitch, if I'm lucky to get one at all.

Either way, this is a great dynasty, and it keeps getting better every day. Good luck with the next few games. :)

I traded Jenkins for Mondesi. He hasn't been a great addition so far, but I'm sure he'll produce plenty of runs during Chipper's absence.

Good news, everyone! My losing streak has finally come to an end. Plus, I managed to set a new record in franchise history. B)

Stay tuned for more...

What a huge relief! My bats finally came alive, resulting in a franchise-record seven home runs by seven different players. In the end, my Braves fell only one home run shy of tying the all-time record the Reds set in 1999.

It was truly a game to remember. And with my confidence being back, I'm feeling ready for the challenges ahead.

Thanks, Maestro. Thomson really pitched a gem. The latest wins were very important because the division-leading Phillies are on a tear, having won eight games in a row.

Weekly update coming up next...

Man, Andruw Jones hitting .327... those were the days. Heh. <_<

Man, Philly's on a tear. Do you have any upcoming games left with them?

Andruw has been phenomenal so far. His .327 average is second in the NL, while leading the league in HRs (26) and RBIs (75). If I can keep his average that high, he might win the Triple Crown.

My next encounter with the Phillies isn't until September. I've got seven games remaining against them, four of the being on the road and three at home.

I hope to see that 3 game deficit erased in the coming weeks ;)

What other players were included in the deal between Boston and Philly?

The other players included in that trade were relief pitchers Aaron Fultz (PHI) and Mike Myers (BOS). I think Boston got the better part of the deal because Chase Utley is a big improvement over Mark Bellhorn at second base. And the Phillies don't really need Johnny Damon as they've already got a great center fielder in Endy Chavez (.327, 8 HR, 34 RBI). Then again, Utley didn't really have a chance in Philadelphia because of Placido Polanco. Maybe the trade will be good for both teams after all.

What a weird way to win a ballgame. I only managed to get one hit and scored the eventual winning run on a costly mistake by Nats left fielder Pedro Feliz. Talking about playing small ball... :)

After blowing two saves in San Francisco, Danny Kolb recorded his 28th save of the season, despite getting into trouble once again. With one out in the ninth, he gave up a triple to Henry Mateo. With the tying run on third base, he got Christian Guzman and pinch-hitter Terrmel Sledge to fly out and end the game. Yes, Danny's back!
