Tigers94
Alright so earlier in the soccer season, I went up for a header and someone else bashed into my face. I got a bump and bruise but nothing more. The bump is still here and on Friday, I went for a CT scan... Well It turns out that a cyst developed in there, and also the x-ray revealed that the hit like made an indent in my nose or something, as now I can't breathe out of my left nostril. So, I am going to have to have surgery in a few weeks to remove the cyst and fix my nose...And tbh, I'm kinda freaked out about the whole thing. Heck, I freaked out when I had to get my tonsils removed, but now plastic surgery? So I was just wondering has anyone had anything similar or anything? I don't really know anything at all and I have a appointment with the surgeon on Friday. EDIT: Oh and I'm going to a plastic surgeon for the thing so that explains the title. Sean O
How far are they going into your nose? I had deviated septum surgery in 2004, where they straightened out the middle part of my nose so I could breathe. It was a pretty rough week afterwards, but I was back in school the week after. Worst spring break ever.

ronmexico
I had deviated septum surgery last August (2007). It's pretty harsh the first 3 days, but after they take out the nasal packaging, you breathe like you've never breathed before. I don't regret it at all, changed my life. I also had plastic surgery to repair my lip after some jackass broke a beer bottle on my face while driving... it was pretty easy going in the recovery, after 12 stitches I felt fine 3 days later, the concussion was the only problem. It shouldn't be too harsh but good luck.

It's pretty harsh the first 3 days, but after they take out the nasal packaging, you breathe like you've never breathed before. I don't regret it at all, changed my life. Lucky you, after having a deviated septum all my life (my septum was actually more like a z than a single bend), I found out I had polyps right after my surgery. So, now I'm on medication for that malady now. It never ends. Anyway, I arrived at the hospital really early in the morning, then was taken into the hospital room to lay down. Then they brought me into get anesthesia, and I went out pretty quick. Woke up, and definitely the worst part was having to keep vertical for hours while the general lays off. The only thing you want to do is roll over and go to sleep, but you have to stay vertical. If it's anything like mine (which I've heard was definitely on the rough side), you will vomit blood pretty hardcore after a few hours, from all the blood that drains into your stomach. I was totally sidelined for a few days, and had a terrible, terrible stomachache for 2-3 days. As terrible as you feel, I would highly recommend walking around, even if it's just in a circle, in the days following. Again, mine could've been much worse, but worth keeping in mind. ronmexico
Oh man, I had it all my life too, but I really got lucky on the polyps cause they suspected it but it wasn't there. I got there at 5am for the prep n such, got in by 7am, thank god I was first because I mighta been freaking out more then I did, anesthesia knocked me out by the count of 5, woke up and they were wheeling me down to the recovery room. Woke up, but kept going in and out of sleep and then they made me drink and eat before I could leave, and I had to be able to walk around and go to the bathroom. Then I remember waiting outside in the middle of august for a car to pull up and take me home, that was horrific, standing there was just really bad. The next few days were bed living and me living on a diet consisting of apple sauce and more apple sauce because I couldn't really go more then the 10 feet to my kitchen and it was pretty much the only thing I could eat at that point. Then 3 days later freshman year of college started, I was kinda zoned out the first few days and luckily I was altering my schedule so much that I didn't have class for almost the first week. I don't recall any vomiting, but that might have been because of the light diet and the blood was coming out through my nose, though I do remember being horrifically hungry the day I got the packaging removed. I also sleep on my sides and I do remember only being able to sleep for 1-2 hours at a time for those 3 days because of the vertical sleeping thing. Ironically as I'm watching The Heartbreak Kid apple juice just came out of the woman's nose and she started complaining that it was because of her deviated septum.
