Ok so me and one of my friend's are building a computer off newegg.com, and I think I have my build. I just wanted some input on it. I'm running on a 1000 to 1200 dollar budget, it will probably be my big xmas present. Thoughts?

Keep in mind where you'll be placing your tower/case. Obviously it's going to put out a lot of light with that plexi side (and noise w/ fans).

Nice power supply - I have the same one in my new rig.

Oh - and it might (literally) be JUST me - but I hate mice that have light visible from the top.

Hey "RaptorQuiz" I'm Wrigley's friend that he mentioned that will be assisting him in the build. I thought I would make a few comments here.

Case- I think Wrigley wanted a little "spunk" in his case with those blue LED fans. (Who wouldn't wanna show off the innards of a great PC? XD)

Power supply- Indeed it is a very well designed and very top notch preforming power supply, the modular cable design is a +.

Mouse- It may be hard to tell from the picture on Newegg, but the mouse doesn't have a light shining through to the top of it, take a look at a better picture - http://crackvan.bitacoras.com/img/input_logitech_mx310_l.jpg I don't like those types of mouses either.

Thanks for the input. No pun intended on any of these statements for your information.

Oh that is a much better pic of the mouse.

As for the case - I was only saying that because I have a matte-black case, but I have a lot of blue-led cooling fans, and I ended up putting the case in a place I hadn't originally thought about (to maxmize air flow), and now I wish there was less light.

So I'm not saying it's a bad design - we all have to get our nerd on sometimes. I was just hoping people would keep everything in mind.

Right, I understand. I'd be kinda disappointed if I had a matter-black case as you mentioned and had a blue LED fan with lights all around in it, that is if I wanted a pure black case w/o the LED's. Anyway, either way its all on personal preference.

Also, I wish Newegg had put up a more accurate picture of the mouse... Looks pretty bad on their site. Much better in other pictures/person.

Anyway.. Onto the hardware. Do you have any changes or recommendations you would make to the build? Don't be shy. Were just working on a budget here.

MarkB would definately be the best person to enlist to help out. He was the primary contributor to helping me get back into the modern era of computing. :)

As for my own opinion - the hardware all looks pretty good to me.

I have a logitech surround-sound set myself - and I love it.

As for the monitor - it's pretty nice.

I might reccomend looking at a brand called HANNspree for HannsG - MarkB first introduced me to the brand -and they are pretty excellent.

Low-cost, high-quality.

Well, the speakers are also very budget oriented. At first I picked a HannsG monitor. but I noticed the Asus one looks a tad better and has slightly better specifications than the HannsG one. Anyway, yeah I worked pretty hard on the build to keep it in budget limits but yet still have a good price:preformance ratio. The only thing people may change in my books would be the processor and recommend a Quad. However I don't think its going to play a big difference here, he would be looking for speed rather than 4 cores. My thought on it. Of course you can overclock the quad but then we will have to buy an aftermarket cooler to get some good results.

Then I decided on the Asus because it has a better static contrast ratio.

Looks good, I don't use ATI video cards, so I honestly don't know how they stack up against each other. I'm guessing the higher the chipset, the better, but that's not always true.

By the way, your CPU you have is an overclocking BEAST.

That ATI card is above the performance of a 9800GTX(varies). I am also an Nvidia fan myself. You're right about the CPU. Can get it to 4.0+ Which... is beyond believe haha. Just need some aftermarket cooling and he'll be zooming, though he already will be.
