roadranger
i've been using mvp edit for a long time with no problems, but i updated my computer some months ago and after i reinstalled mvp edit, i can't get any portraits to show up in mvp edit. i've checked all of the boxes in the options tab and i've tried the c:program fileseasportsmvpbaseball2005data, database, frontend, etc directories with no luck. i've downloaded and installed the '08 mod version and numerous different rosters. all of the rosters show up fine in mvpedit, but no portraits. i always open c:programfileseasportsmvpbaseball 2005frontendportraits.big in the ea graphics editor and added the new portraits with no problems. i recently downloaded a new portrait batch, installed it with ea graphics editor, and that wouldn't show up either. i'm doing the same thing as i've always done as far as downloading and installing portraits without any problems, but i haven't been able to see the portraits since i installed the '08 mod, so i'm assuming i'm missing something in the configuration or i'm using the wrong directory in mvpedit
xiberger
MVPEdit can only handle big archives with less than 3,000 entries. The portrait.big file that comes with the 08 mod has more and so the program can't display the portraits.
roadranger
should i delete the lower minor league portraits? would that help?
xiberger
Sure, that would be an option. But why do you need MVPEdit to show the portaits so badly? They're in the game anyway.
roadranger
it's nice to be able to see the portraits and make sure the players have the right uni. what's the best way to delete the minor league (especially AA & A) portraits without having to write down every player's id number and go into the portraits.big or kg's 6.3 roster and delete the .fsh for each player? xiberger
I think there's no other way to do it. Just be aware that deleting a player's portrait requires you to set his portrait ID in MVPEdit to 0. And the audio files assigned to the previous ID will no longer be working after that. roadranger
thanks for your help. just to make sure (when i open mvpedit) what directory should i use when i click the options menu in mvpedit?
xiberger
To quote Jim825: In MVPEdit, click on Tools->Options from the top menubar and make sure that you specify where your MVP Baseball Data directory is. MVPEdit expects that the portrait.big file will be in the data / frontend directory. It doesn't matter where the data directory is, as long as it has a frontend subdirectory and the portrait.big file is in there. You then select the data directory in the Options popup window and the portraits will appear for you. Just make sure that when you select the data directory that you double click on it so that the folder appears open.
