hey guys i was wondering if anyone could help me in my quest to find a copy of mvp 2005 for the pc, (does the game work on intel macs?) i think the mods idea is really cool and i play the game alot although i'm a console veteran (i had the ps2 version for years until my ps2 crapped out on me, and i have an xbobx but i dont like the controller haha, it's shame the game isn't 360 compatible) --so any help at all would be awesome, is there somewhere where i can download it? it's selling on ******* ebay for like $89.99 and that's a little absurd. any help would be awesome. thnks!

On his site, we only talk about legal methods to obtain the game, and at that means actually purchasing it. It has never been available to for legal downloading.

Unfortunately, your only real option is buying it online at eBay or Amazon.

hey so if i make a monetary donation to the site and then ask one of its members to burn a copy and mail to it me as a gift, is that morally objectionable in your viewpoint as well? i'm not trying to be a hard *** i just dont think that i should have to pay 90 bucks for a game that was 50 when it came out over four-five years ago. is there not one person on this forum that agrees with me that mvp 2005 shouldn't be selling at such a ridiculous price? now i'm just looking for people opinions at this point just to see what the consensus is...

one reason nobody will do it.

ITS ILLEGAL and you in most likely hood would both be banned for life.

and yes, the prices are rediculous, but you have to ask yourself, do you really want to play MVP Baseball 2005? how bad you you want it? i managed to get my copy right before it went crazy, 35 bucks lol. you might try looking around walmart or bestbuy, gamestop, any place that would sell pc games. you might find one. other than that, its ebay ebay ebay.

....thanks for only answering one of my many questions...

OK, smart guy, show me your "many" questions. I see two question marks in your original post, and therefore only two questions:

does the game work on intel macs?

is there somewhere where i can download it?

I only answered one question because I know the answer to only one of them. I have no idea if the game will run on an Intel Mac, so I'm not going to give you an answer that I'm unsure of.

Make sense?

As for you later question about someone burning you a copy of the game as a "gift" for making a donation to this site, that would also be illegal. MVPMods is not affiliated whatsoever with EA Sports, so no one here has the rights to make a copy for you.

In addition, if we start talking about illegal ways to get the game (making copies, illegal downloads, etc.), it would be within EA Sports' rights to try to shut down this website, which would hurt all of us who bought the game legally.

Is the price inflated? Absolutely, but if the game wasn't so well liked and if a better game had come along since MVP 2005 was released, the price wouldn't be so high. It's all about supply vs. demand. Also, when the game came out for the PC 3-1/2 years ago, it wasn't $49.99 (that may have been the X-Box price). It was $29.99, and many places offered it for only $19.99, if you pre-ordered it (like I did).

Hopefully that clears some things up for you

But let's see ........ EASports' MVP Baseball 2005 PC version is approximately $90 on eBay & Amazon today.

But due to the tremendous talents & efforts of these guys at MVPMods & EAMods once you buy the PC Version of the game you then can easily and for no additional charge have:

a 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1964, 1967, 1969, 1978, 1988, 1994, Caribe & Nippon version of the game plus likely more to come and seemingly always getting better .........

So that's like a Holiday Bundled Deal at around $6 per game ............

Not too Bad of a Deal and getting better in my opinion ...........

Merry Christmas from MVPMods & EAMods !!!

Enjoy !

Just curious:

Why is it illegal to download if EA Sports doesn't sell it anymore?

Well we don't exactly have the rights to download the game because ea sports didn't give us the right to copyright their product. I'm totally against the uproar in prices at ebay, because it ends up benefiting the original consumer, and it doesn't benefit ea. The original game for the pc published by easports went for 20 or 30 bucks. Now it is 120 bucks at amazon. That is about 4 times as much as the original product. I'm against it, but I guess that is the only "legal" way to buy the game now.

Just curious:

Why is it illegal to download if EA Sports doesn't sell it anymore?

Since EA Sports never put the game online to download, any copy that IS online was coped from the original discs. Whoever did this violated the EULA (End User License Agreement) that came with their copy game, and therefore, it would be copyright infringement.

To be honest it a gray area and EA is not the one who would come after you it would be the MLB or the MLBPA.

EAs coprights now fall under fair use because since they dont sell it anymore there is no affect on the market for it. However downloading the likenesses and logos of the MLB players and teams could be seen as cutting into the market for newer games.

It would be 100% legal to download a copy of MVP with all fake players, teams, stadiums, freeware music and all that.

EA probably doesnt care and might well lose in court if they tried to stop it but the MLBPA and MLB and invidual MLB teams could if they saw fit i suppose.

Its even possible that the whole dam game could fall under fair use but who has the money to hire a lawyer and find out?

To be 100% honest id bet most people who casually use this site have for mods and dont post very often have probably pirated the game, its not hard to do, and the chances of repercussions for obtaining a game that hasn't been produced commercially since 2005 are almost nil.

Further id be willing to be that there are a heft number of Fakes being traded on Ebay and Amazon and cutting a nice profit off the top.

Personally i don't think its that big a deal BUT as a website which can be viewed as a organization this site can not be seen as promoting software piracy or it could all be gone.

Basically what im saying is if you don't have to be too smart to find a free copy but no one here is gonna tell you how.

Don't forget, even the makers of the MVP 08 mod might be violating the law. They are putting songs on the MVP 08 mod, different from the songs from the original 2005 game. I don't own any of these songs, either.

You're right. Then my advice to you is to delete the 08 mod right away and go back to playing Disney games.

While you are at it, ask someone to burn you Windows Vista, MS Office and Photoshop.

thanks for the helpful and honest comments. much appreciated. however before i do indeed go out and buy this game at 90 bucks, and happily mod myself to baseball heaven with the rest of you, im still unclear if mvp works on an intel macbook. if anyone is willing to help me out in finding an answer to this question without jumping down my throat or attacking my morals or intelligence i would be most grateful.

thanks again! and i throughly enjoyed reading your guys' responses and i appreciate those comments that were respectful and those that contained constructive criticisms of my comments.

Considering jim seems to think that the only way a grammatically correct inquiry can be made is if it has a question mark at the of the phrase; --my original question that I would still greatly appreciate assistance with happens to be: Does anyone know if MVP 2005 can operate correctly on a 2007 Intel Macbook with leopard OS X?

thank you to those of you who responded positively for your time and your honesty in critiquing my comments.

Did a quick keyword search for you. Check the post by wellandblueblood in the following thread.

*Might want to send him a PM should you need further explanation.

You can operate it if you install a bootcamp partition of Windows XP or Vista, which means you need a legal copy of that too. I can guarantee it will work, and send me a PM if you really need some help setting it up, though it couldn't be any more straightforward.

I acknowledged that you asked whether MVP would run on a Macbook -- Re-read my post and you will see that. As I said, I do not know, so I could not give you an answer.

What I didn't appreciate was your condescending attitude (re-read YOUR response to my original post) when I was trying to help you with what I DID know. Even now, you're doing it to some degree in the quote above.

You said that you asked "many" questions, and I only saw two (even after re-reading your original post numerous time). I answered the one I could and left it for others to see if they knew the answer to the other one.

I was being as helpful as I could and if you search for my name in the forums, you'll see that I help others as much as I can (sometimes answering the same question multiple times), but if that isn't good enough, I'm sorry....
