Homer
have you tried just re-installing the face? i just can't seem to reproduce the crash. i'd say try that and if that doesn't fix it, well then i don't know what to do.
Jim825
I haven't tried that yet. I'll give it a try later when I have some free time.
xiberger
Having two players use the same portrait / audio ID shouldn't cause the game to crash. The two players will just have the same portrait and audio. In TC9, the same player may appear on multiple teams (e.g. Derek Jeter on the '96, '98 and 2000 Yankees), and for each team, the individual player has a separate entry in the attrib.dat file (i.e. each instance of Jeter is a separate player). In the Jeter example, he uses the same portrait ID on all 3 teams and there are no crashing problems. On some teams not all players have portaits. They may have a generic pitcher or batter picture or the team logo show up when they come up to bat. In this case, you'll have different players on the same team using the same portrait ID and it works fine. It's good to know that sharing the same photo/audio ID doesn't cause the game to crash. Thanks, Jim!
Homer
i didn't exactly say it would crash. just saying it could. kraw once went into this explanation of why and how it could. so it's a possibility from what i understand someone should ask him to clarify. xiberger
I beg to differ, Homer: 5. you cannot assign the same portrait/audio id number to two or more different players. it will crash. ;-) Jim's explanation sounds very reasonable, so I think he's right about this. Also, many players share ID No. 0 without any problems. Still, I'm going to take your advice and ask kraw about possible consequences of two or more players sharing the same ID. Maybe he can shed some light on the subject.
Jim825
Just installed and tested the Hough face. I still see the same crash. I'll test some more when I have more time.
Homer
damn you and your quoting but yeah, ask kraw. that's the only reason i watch out for it. just saying it's possible. just like i know biggui will corrupt your models.big. doesn't do it all the time, but it's possible. tebjr
Sorry, havnt had the free time to check that out until today. Yup, sends you straight to desktop in the player edit screen. I'm sure it's face related, but I'm not getting the crash, so I don't now what to do. Try changing the face to a generic, then re-import the DATs, and see if that does the trick. Homer
well i'm kind of at a loss with hough as tebjr said because i can't find a crash here. the only things that would crash it that i can think of would be the cyberface or the roster. if it's the cyberface, reinstalling it with the one i posted should do the trick. if it's a roster thing, i don't know what the deal is because i don't see any problems with it. i hope jim or someone else can figure this one out. Jim825
I went back and tried again. I first tried the Cardinals at the Rangers with Charlie Hough on the mound. The game started just fine. I then tried the Tigers at the Rangers with Hough on the mound. The game crashed at the loading screen. I opened up the rosters with MVPEdit and noticed that my models.big did not have a face for Mike Heath (catcher on the Tigers). Tebjr mentioned this on an earlier page, but I had only looked at the Rangers rosters and not those of the Tigers. I installed the Heath face that tebjr posted, started the game and everything now works fine for me (i.e. no crashes). I should have looked a little more thoroughly sooner..... stevieaces
I installed Hough's face from Homers pack like he suggested and it still is crashing. The Heath face is fine, no problems there. Is there a face list for this mod I am overlooking?
