Kayxero
My bro got this from CyberPower through newegg I believe. Or he may have went right through the CyberPower site. I kept telling him to custom build his own, but hes lazy and not really used to the whole thing. He knows general things but does not get into the techie stuff too much. We used to custom build back when he lived at home, but that was a few years ago since we have built anything together. And even then, I spear-headed what we did and put everything together once we received the parts. He would find components online or through friends and make suggestions that aided our builds. I fell out of the custom thing since our last build almost 4 years ago, but he sent me this to ask what I thought. I would not be able to give a great answer seeing as I have not been around hardware since Pentium D's came out. So asking me about pricing, bang for buck, and power is pointless. Here is his list. Your thoughts are appreciated. seanzarelli
Well he got screwed on the shipping, because all he had to do was choose a rig that said "Free Shipping" and then switch all the components up
BrooklynNets24
was he that impatient to choose 65 dollar shipping?

RdSoxFan618
No way this was worth the money, this rig is overpriced big time. Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119152 $49.99 Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128338 $52.99 Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115017 $184.99 Memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145184 $24.99 (after $30 rebate) HD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136298 $69.99 CD/DVD Drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827151171 $24.99 Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150316 $109.99 (and it comes w/ CoD4) Total Price = $517.93 + Shipping Much better rig too. Tell him to send the other one back, make this, and buy himself a good Xbox 360 and it will be the same price.
MarkB
Ripped off is an understatement. And I bet he didn't get that 420W PSU that he paid for with the case sent separately because he chose the 635W PSU. Also, if he's planning on using a 32-bit OS, that extra 1 GB of RAM will go to waste. Plus, nVidia graphics = fail.
BigPaPa
For a No OS system, unless hes a linux man, with those specs its bit on the high side. Whenever you buy from a custom computer maker you should really check all the component prices outside of the maker. He got ripped a bit could have done better. As for this : No way this was worth the money, this rig is overpriced big time. Other things to think about is that many custom computers offer long warranties, much longer then factory warranties on the parts, so add a buck or two for that. Thank kinda shipping is a bit off the wall unless it overnight or something though. Plus, nVidia graphics = fail. Nvidia SLIed > ATI. And dont even get me started on Xfire, Xfire is garbage. MarkB
That's like saying a 3GHz AMD is better than a 800MHz Intel. A reasonable comparison would have been ATI in a Crossfire configuration and nVidia in an SLI configuration, but my nVidia observation was based more on the company itself and their treatment of their customers than their products. However, I have no experience with Crossfire or SLI, so can't base an opinion on it.
BigPaPa
Truth is most head to head performance comparison show SLI ahead by a small and insignificant margin. So you get a 2 more FPS WOOOO HOOOO. Most head to heads are also older then the latest driver and card releases so.... In any case i donlt like Xfire for issues related to Power, Drivers and Computability. xFire has had more compatibility issues, more driver bugs, creates more heat and draws more power then sli, and usually tech support does little more then throw up their hands and tell you they are sorry nd would be happy to supply a refund. When i asked around when i was putting my machine together, most people said xfire was fine if you bought a top-end Mobo and top end cards but much less reliable on a short budget. MarkB
I did forget the PSU, and I will admit that. I went fast. I just noticed it when I was scrolling down the page. But all processors come with heatsinks, and the motherboard will run. Get him to call whoever he bought the system from and ask where the PSU is, and why it wasn't sent with the system. He paid for it, he's entitled to have it, and it's a good spare to have around in case it's ever needed. Not all processors come with heatsinks - some do, some don't as a cost reduction to the consumer. OEM CPU's, especially, are rarely sent with heatsinks. Also, there is a chance that the stock CPU is garbage. A good heatsink and fan solution can be the difference between your system running at 60°c and lasting for 2 and a half years or running at 35°c and lasting for 5 years. Kayxero
Thanx for the input. I talked to him and he said he was a tad impatient and antsy in wanting the rig. I told him I could of visited since it is Xmas break and put it together for him if he ordered parts since he not used to putting components together. But he said he would of rather just got it pre-made as it is easier and less hassle and time for him. The money was not a big issue for him. But I can understand that becuase my bro does not splurge on himself very often and saves money really well. So it was a treat of an Xmas gift he got himself. According to him the cooling fans are great and the cpu heatsink/fan set up is beastly. The front led reads 22 idle and 32 load for him while gaming he says. Which is insane. I told him to check the temps out on Everest and MBM5 just to make sure. Anyways, thanx guys.
