seanzarelli
For the $500-$600 range it'll be pretty tough. I have a 32" Dynex LCD 720p that I bought from Best Buy about 1 1/2 years ago for about $450. It's perfect for me for playing the 360 (which actually the TV supports 1080i, not maxed out at 720p) on and also the local HD channels looks extremely nice. I can't tell you how it looks with regular cable/satellite HD channels though as I don't have a box in my room. Here is the link, and right now it's on sale for $400. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1194052042159 Also, if you go to the store to check it out, don't be scared about the picture quality on it. Best Buy, and the other stores send crappy signals to the lower priced TVs so that you spend more money on a bigger TV.
Mathew
I appreciate it. I don't have a large living room and I'm using it mostly for the 360 i'm going to buy and not really worried about the TV end of it. Can you tell a difference from playing th the 360 with out a HDTV and playing with? any thoughts on this one? What ports should I make sure it has? http://www.vizio.com/product.aspx?id=2717&pid=1506
wrigleyville33
Imo, sharp is the best company for hd's. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012TTX1K/ref=as...mp;linkCode=asn -that one would do just fine. "$579.95 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping" from amazon. My bet would be, if you find a Circuit City around your place, you can negotiate with them to get the price down a bit because they are shutting down u.s. stores. The ports you want: hdmi and component. I would go with comcast for your hd provider, and stay away from satellites. Be sure to tell them to connect your hd cable box through hdmi, not component. Even though mine is connected through component, my friend's hd through hdmi looks a little better.
cococrispy
Ok so as we all know its Income Tax time and I need to know a thing or two about HDTV's what to look for what to aviod, Plasma, DLP, or LCD, Best TV for the $500 - 600$ price range, What Brands are best, what TV provider has the best HD Channels. I appreciate all your help. woah woah woah, i dont know that much xD. Avoid plasma, because I heard it may have a "screen-burn in" on the TV if you play too many video games. DLP is cheaper, which is good. The only problem is, you have to change the bulb every couple years. Does not take much time, just $150 though. LCD is cheap, not as cheap as DLP. I think LCD is the best to go with. However, if you play the Wii, get DLP (you probably don't have a Wii). One casual went to my house, and broke the screen of the LCD because she wasnt using a wrist strap. Now I have to buy another tv. ARGH!!! Anyway, LCD is best imo. Also, even though you may not like refurbished, it can be cheap. I bet you could MAYBE find a 40' tv for around that price, refurbished. www.e-cost.com Samsung is nice... I am getting a ViewSonic 1080p TV. No idea about the TV provider... I use Charter Digital Cable. BTW, I use modded MVP on the big screen TV... The graphics are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I can go with the ! all day).
krawhitham
DO NOT GET DLP unless it is LED powered My sony's bulb only lasts about 1 year LED powered DLP would be the best bang for the buck
papak
I think walmart has a sony 32 inch for a little under 600.00, also hit circuit city, they are going out of business, you might get a good deal
Snash13
I recommend looking for a Samsung or Sony 32" model for the price range you are looking for. Samsung 32" LN32A450 Sony 32" KDL32M4000 would be the models I would recommend from each in the $500-$700 dollar range. Brand wise Sony and Samsung are leaps and bounds above the competition and it is really personal preference between the two. Both are 720p LCD's with contrast ratios in the mid 10,000-20,000:1 range and multiple HDMI inputs. Component inputs will come on any HD tv but it is not as widely used as HDMI is nowadays. My recommendation is to find a smaller regional electronics retailer such as Ultimate Electronics out here in the Southwest as they are much more likely to bargin with you on the price. Happy Hunting!
