lasereye420
just a few things that are getting on my nerves with mvp2004. first off, never, never sim games if you want your bench to play. if you're ahead the cpu will never pinch hit for relief pitchers. apperently the people at EA really don't watch NL games, you hardly ever see a releif pitcher bat for themselves. MVP mode urks me when from time to time i run cpu vs cpu. here's the situation, a pitcher fall behind 3-0 throws a strike, batter looks at it. no problem but when the batter takes a second strike right down the middle then gives a weak swing at the third strike every time, that gets a little unnerving. the game is supposed to go by the players ratings right, well then i guess the cpu must think everyone has the same ratings. a pitcher comes up to bat in the late innings and makes the last out, the top of the next inning he is immediately replaced with a relief pitcher...excuse me CPU, why the hell didn't you just pinch hit for him the last inning. Stupid CPU. last thing, how many times do you see a closer come into the game in the 8th when his spot in the lineup is at the bottom of the inning. now i used to play this game when it was called Triple Play and it still had some of the same problems. if EA wants a better baseball game, why don't they fix the stuff that should have been fixed when it changed over to MVP? i've been trying to make this game act like a real baseball game and the thing is basically telling me it's gonna do it's own thing no matter what. i'm getting a bit flustered. :x
krawhitham
At least you are a reds fan try some of the datafile.txt some will help that a bit. Also use the sliders for pitchers to making them tire quicker. that will get the bench in a little more
danc
lasereye420 MVP has never, ever, had good AI. It is primarily a console port with great graphics. AI has never been a priority and gamer button input has always overridden player ratings IMHO. I miss High Heat for this reason only. It is a big reason however. I have taken to playing every game in order to infuse some degree of reality to player ratings. It seems better if you take control of at least hitting and pitching. Sorry. danc
cloutier, Your optimism is delightful although probably misplaced. Don't count on fundimental changes to a program that was not designed for AI in the first place. Hope I'm wrong but $$$ speaking, I doubt it. It's just too "labor" intensive. Look what happened to TW2k5!! Flexibility in game play is just not in EA's $$$$ interest. A boycott is needed.
lasereye420
I do miss high heat too, i retired it for mvp. but don't get me wrong mvp is a good game too just needs tweaked a little better. the perfect game would be mixing mvp graphics with high heat's gameplay. i know that'll never happen but it's a nice wish.
