grechzoo
firstly i only recently got into baseball, and having played mlb the show 08. (which i fell in love with) however i was devasted when my brother decided to sell his ps3. so i first got mlb 2k9....and honestly, i found it near unplayable. then i came accross this site and had to track down mvp. i finally got mvp 2005 for pc, and (using my x360 controller) i just played my first few games. It is AMAZING, the graphics are brilliant considering the games age too (have a pretty beefy pc so that helps). I love the animations, both pitching and batting feel great and are very fun. and fielding is very well handled. unlike mlb 2k9, i truly enjoy all aspects of the game and even though it is not as realistic as the show, it is just as fun. For example i executed a nice double play and the players were trippign over each other, its really felt tense and real and i just loved every minute of it. As you cantell I'm very excited so i have a lot of questions that will hopefully make the game even better. 1: firstly i want to update the roster and uniforms, photos, stadiums etc. to the 2009 season. so can somone suggest a good option, im not a big 'mod' person, so as close as there is to an all-in-one mod would be perfect. but if many are needed i will figure it out 2: also im a little confused about how to pickoff and step off the mound wehn pitching. i mapped it to LB (button 5) and it comes up in game, but i have tried pressing it and nothing seems to happen. 3: can you recommend game sliders and option that make the experience more realistic and fun? (or direct to a page or topic that shares sets) 4: and finally, anything you guys personally recommend to make the experience better. im so glad i found this game as i was very upset at not being able to play the show anymore, but this hits all the spots for me, its probably weird having someone so excited abotu such an old game, but take it from a first time player, this game does not feel aged at all. i really hope you guys can advise me and i look forward to your replies. kgbaseball
I just uploaded my latest roster last night. You'll need to download MVP 08, the full conversion mod, first. It's over at eamods.com.

BraveFalcon
Honestly I haven't even downloaded the MVP 07 or 08 download. I just recently reacquired the game a couple weeks ago myself, and I basically just Created a bunch of the allstar caliber players from last couple years, and edited many of the older players to their current skill level. In my dynasty I always use fantasy draft and play with the players scattered around to different teams, so accurate rosters aren't really a concern at all, just accurate skill level. Then I downloaded a bunch of the great created stadiums some of the guys have made. They are simple to put into the game. Once you have game installed, you just copy and paste the stadium into the stadium folder. Just name it as the stadium you want to replace in the folder, and walla, when you choose that stadium on the game its replaced. The Nationals stadiums that are in download section are pretty good and way better than the default RFK Washington stadium. Just to remember to always back up your original files in case you don't like the stadiums that somebody created. I have played in most that are in the download section, and have only found a few that I didn't like or didn't look right (one of the new Busch stadium files had major outfield wall problems). I also downloaded the Fox Sports overlay from that package. Its cool cuz it puts the Total pitches thrown and pitcher energy level on the screen for you to see during the game. I have the outfielder catch circles as the TBS overlays though. Adds some personality to the game. Also if ya want all the stadiums and Legendary players available from the start of a dynasty, just create a player named Katie Roy, then save and all the players from Babe Ruth to Dennis Eckersley will be playable in your season. I use if for fun in one of my dynasties. As far as gameplay is concerned. I play on Allstar setting with certain tweaks. User pitch control I put at negative 40. That makes pitching somewhat harder and you can't always hit your spots easily. User pitch fatigue I have +2, cuz I like my pitchers to get tired around 5-6th inning so it forces me to use bullpen if the pitcher doesnt have great stamina. I'm all about making the game more challenging. User power somewhere around positive 5 or +8 works. PC power I put at +4 (some people play with it negative a little to take away easy PC player bombs) PC Control I put at -7. This way if you really have a good eye, you can draw 3-4 walks a game. This never happens on most baseball video games as ya may know. PC runners I put at -3 cuz they are way too fast otherwise. User Outfielders make em +5 speed, so they can get to balls outfielders normally get to. I also turn injuries up slightly, error frequency up, user infielder speed up +2, user throwing up +1. Foul balls I have at +15 for both PC and User, so this way you get more strike counts but not TOO many foul balls where it becomes irritating. Swing frequency for PC is something I'm still playing around with. I have it at -1 right now. I like for PC to swing, but also get called strike 3s too. Right now I'm happy with this setting. PC infielder speed I put -2 and outfielder speed -1 cuz they seem to get to balls they shouldnt be able to in real life. This balances it out some. Those are just the things I could thing of off top of my head. I just started a dynasty yesterday so I been tinkering around with it. These settings give me realistic 6-4, 5-3, 2-1, and 8-4 type scores. Hope I helped. Sooner or later I'm gonna try the MVP 08 (or 09 when its ready) full install thingy. Right now I'm content with just updating the players myself and tweaking around with the other smaller mods.
