baseballfans
Jeff Pearlman known as the reporter who reported John Rocker's infamous rant about taking the No. 7 train to Shea Stadium, believe that Mike Piazza used steroids during his playing career. Former baseball players Reggie Jefferson, quote, "He's a guy who did it, and everybody knows it. It's amazing how all these names, like Roger Clemens, are brought up, yet Mike Piazza goes untouched." Many writer support Pearlman thought because during Mike Playing career many reporter did see "bulging muscles and his acne-covered back. Than in ... 2004 season, the first season baseball was testing for performance-enhancing substances with identification and penalties attached. If Piazza had been using steroids and didn't want to get caught, he had to stop using. If he stopped using, his back would clear up. His back cleared up. Completely. When steroids became a daily subject in newspaper articles many writers wanted to write about Piazza's acne-covered back. But many NY editors would not allow it. Piazza, they said, had never been accused of using steroids so they couldn't write about it. http://deadspin.com/5180679/mike-piazza-th...ne=true&s=x

HardcoreLegend
These are pretty flimsy allegations.
Sarginto
I don't see any substantial evidence that would link him with using steroids. One reporter mentioned how his "back acne" mysteriously disappeared, but his name was nowhere to be found on the Proactiv website on a list of celebrities that use the product, so it must have been from him halting the use of the "steroids" he was taking. What a joke. Pearlman found out from a mysterious group of reporters that were in the "in" with Piazza that he admitted using the substances to them. Until I see some substantial evidence backing up these claims, I won't believe the allegations. Given the amount of players that were linked to using performance enhancing drugs, it wouldn't surprise me if his name popped up somewhere, but that doesn't necessarily mean he used them. ronmexico
Sadly no one is above accusation (especially as a Mets fan) but this is a pretty cruddy argument. The man had backne so he did steroids?
seanzarelli
I'd honestly be heart broken if Piazza did in fact do steroids. I played catcher from 93-01 until I injured my knee severely and I always wanted to be like Piazza. He was my role model as a baseball player. petep1980
Backne and bulging muscles are hardly reason to accuse roid use.
