The top 2 are Ivan Rodriguez and Greg Maddux, unless you think someone else better than them is available. McDiddy Posted December 10, 2004 Share Posted December 10, 2004 A team and a player go to arbitration when they cant agree on a good contract agreement, but they are still interesting in trying to work things out. A arbiter is basically a 3rd party, he evaluates the two sides, and looks at how good or bad the player really is, and then he sets the price. After that the team and player have a chance to both agree to that, if they dont, the player becomes a free agent.
