piranesi
I'm starting the second year of a Cardinals dynasty and am having the CPU intentional walk problem with Albert Pujols. The CPU walks him automatically if it's the 5th inning or later, no matter what the situation is (once they walked him with a three run lead when he was leading off the 6th inning!). I used MVPedit to set the IBB tendencies to 0 on all teams, but I'm actually not sure if that was what I'm supposed to do. It didn't have any effect anyway. So, when I change something like that in MVPedit, does the change effect the tendencies in my dynasty? Or does it only effect the tendencies if you are playing a game using the original rosters or starting a new dynasty? I know MVPedit isn't for changing things in a dynasty when it comes to rosters and faces and such, but what about manager tendencies and IBBs? Also, is there an upper limit of player hitting attributes anyone has found where this kicks in? When Pujols was in the 95-97 range in contact and power, he didn't get walked too much, but once he hit 98, he gets walked at least twice per game. piranesi
Is there really no solution for this? I've pushed Pujols' numbers back down to the original roster ratings, and he's still got something like 30 IBBs in 35 games. In the last game I played, the CPU walked him to lead off the 8th even though it had a 2 run lead...bringing up the tying run. I singled and then hit a game winning home run and it really felt cheap. ChuckkieB
From my own experience I believe the max in contact and power before the intentional walks issue kicks in is 96.
patsen
Intentional walks aren't inherently rated in the game. It's a manager decision which is usually based on the difference in quality between the hitter and the one following it, and the game situation. I've been doing tests where everyone in the league had all average stats, and change one stat, and in all of these experiments, there were no bunts or IBB in over hundreds of thousands of PA. You can rate bunting ability, and plate discipline, but how often the manager calls the IBB or bunt depends on game conditions.
ChuckkieB
There is an IBB tendencies setting that can be adjusted to 0. With that being said, the contact and power ratings do make a difference. If the power and contact settings of a player are above 96, an IBB will occur in every single instance in where an IBB is possible (i believe after the 4th or 5th inning). If the ratings are under 96, an IBB will only occur during those instances where it's absolutely necessary based on the game situation.
