ChicagoCubs720
I found this photo of Ken Griffey Jr. from the Mariners' home opener: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/7770/3444...253c3c938ao.jpg and thought it would make a cool wallpaper, but I don't want that photography company's name there. I'm pretty handy with PS, but thought maybe someone else who is better with it could give it a go.

JoeRudi26
No clone tool, no black fade. 1.) To cover the text, I copied (with the Marquee Tool) a part of the homeplate dirt that was similar to the dirt under the text. Or at least as close to it as I could. I then created a new layer, took the part that I copied and pasted it on the new layer, and then covered the text with the part that I copied. (Ctrl + E) to merge the layers and then I used the Blur or Smudge tool to blend it in. 2.) The black or "shading" as you guys called it is a little trick that really just sharpens the color, and adds some 'smoothness' to the pic. Once you have the pic the way you want it try these steps: a. Duplicate the layer b. On the duplicated layer, change the blending mode to Overlay c. Go to Filter-Blur-Gaussian Blur (set the radius to 8 pixels) d. Adjust the opacity and fill on the 'Overlay' layer to your liking e. Merge (Ctrl+E) the layers f. If you want to add depth, experiment with a black gradiant on the edges of the pic Just FYI, Trues put up a Photoshop thread in the Creative Discussions forum. If you guys (or anyone) has any questions, post them there and I'll be glad to help if I can. *Edit -Here you can see the difference:
