Outcomes For Charge The Mound

So there have been a few occasions where I have thrown caution to the wind and charged a pitcher after he clearly and realistically deserved it. Of the four occasions I can recall, two of which have caused an injury to my batter. My most recent decision was to charge Zach Jackson with Big Jim Thome in Cleveland. Jim ended up with a shoulder injury that cost me a 60day trip and I did not get a report on Jackson's face? I wonder if the game is coded to randomly select an injury to any player in the dugout, as in the case of a brawl? Has anyone seen this or even multiple injuries?

Not to turn this into a Hockey piece, I'm curious, does the game intensity factor play into outcomes of a fight?

I've also seen many injuries resulting from charging the mound. Mostly to batters, too. I suggest you only let the fists do the talking when one of your backup players is getting drilled. Risking a major injury to a star player just isn't worth it.

For the amount of views this has gotten, not a whole lot of folks are chiming in? Am I the only one getting hit by pitches??

I want to hear some stories. I've heard about some 500+ foot homers out there, great... But if your teamates have been HBP and your big man comes out and gets it, you gotta MAN UP!

I use Cle in franchise. I homered with A. Carbrera and 2 pitches later Sizemore got drilled. Sizemore is not one to charge in real life, but in the game I had to defend myself. I charged and next thing I know Sizemore is out for the year..LOL.

He's a 5 tool player but lacks fighting skills I suppose!

Yeah, I've been involved in a lot of incidents with the mound being charged. Usually it was when I was on the mound and that's after I'm beaning one of the Red Sox. I pick out the top guys and then after awhile, I can almost guess when I am going to have someone go after me.

Come to think of it, what control faders are used in factoring CPU's HBP? I'll check mine later, but where are you guys at?

Also, off subject but I'm glad to have an audience here. It's embarrasing, but I can't figure out how to setup my best pitches with 5 pitch men on my controller. I have a PS2 controller going into my computer and play MVP 08. So Contreras does not have his forkball. It's painful! Help!

I've noticed that more than injuries, random position players will get thrown out of the game.....one time I chardged the mound vs. the Mets, and Delgado got thrown out for them, so that worked in my favor.

I have only been HBP 2 times. I don't remember with which players, but I know it was a couple from MVP 05's Cubs. I only charged the mound once and my guy was ejected without any injury. Come to think of it, it may have been Corey Patterson.

I hit Alexi Cassilla with Buerhle and he charges the mound. He was ejected. That loaded the bases for Joe Mauer and he punished the ball out for a slam in Chicago. This rivalry is heating up early. Later, Danks received a warning for hitting batters, but no charges. Danks has hit 3 batters in 7 starts. Carlos Quentin gets hit twice in Texas and on the second time he forgets the anger management and gets ejected. No injuries yet.

I'm really curious... has anyone seen a player not batting or pitching get hurt or ejected during a bench clearing?

I love throwing inside sliders/cutters but sometimes they can cause trouble. If you're too early it's golfed, if you're too late, well, that's what this thread is about. In my White Sox season, Danks is hitting all kinds of batters, I think he has 13-14 in 10 starts. This far surpasses any other pitcher I have and it's not like I'm trying to do it at all?

After ringing up Cincinatti pitching for the first two games at Great America, Bronson Arroyo cooled off my bats. Trying to sweep, Danks hit Ramon Hernandez and Jonny Gomes. Brought in Gobble, he hit Rosales in the eighth and was ejected. Jenks blew the save with a two-run bomb and an 80% Octavio Dotel lost the game in the tenth.

David Ortiz gets hit once every ten games or so, but he never gets injured when I charge to the mound, he just gets thrown out all the time, and once Johnny Damon got suspended for 10 games for his partake in the mound brawl...wtf???

redsox.no1,

Johnny Damon was not the player hit? 10 games means he had to have a bat in his hand. LOL. That confirms it. I recently had a Sox/Cubs series where Jimmy Gobble hit Andres Blanco, who charged and Chris Getz the Sox 2B gets the ejection in a bench clearing brawl. I've always wondered if other players could get injured or ejected in a team vs. team fight. I love this game!
