RaysFTW
I'm attempting to create a dynasty template from scratch, but I don't know where to start. I like the sort of complexity that JoeRudi26 has on his templates. I need some help on creating this. Any pictures or any help on how to start would be nice. Thanks. wrigleyville33
Dude, it isn't hard. Just look at other networks for examples, then be creative and branch off from that.
JoeRudi26
Hey Rays, long time no see. I just wanted to jump in here and try to "help" if I could. To be totally honest, the only way you're going to get good at making these templates is to dig into Photoshop and try any and everything that you can; tools, filters, lighting, etc. There really are no ways around just learning how things work other than trial and error. I had a big interest in trying to duplicate some of the graphics I've seen on Sportscenter, Fox Sports, overlays, etc. Anything that had to do with a graphic in a sports game, I just wanted to be able to do it. Since I never could find any pics on the net of what I wanted, I just took pics off the TV with my digital camera and went from there. For example, I really think some of ESPN's new stuff is pretty cool, so I'm probably going to do this one next: That said though, I started with a single box if I had to. Trying to make shapes that somewhat looked like what I was trying to copy. Doing so helps you around the program as well. I don't have a lot of time lately, but I've made a few just to keep in practice. Some are replicates of some graphics on tv, some are ones I've made up. Here is one I'm seeing this year from ESPN: Here's a couple of my own: The numbers on the stat boards are totally fictitious, and none of these are actually finished, just some things I'm messing around with. But as you can see if you look closely, everything starts with some simple shapes, and branches out from there. If you are really interested in doing this, you will get better the more you do. Good luck. B)
RaysFTW
That does help, actually. Looking at them templates. By the way, I haven't been active on here anymore. I think when we updated the entire site, I didn't like it more. Anyways, thanks for the help and I'll try messing around in photoshop.
wrigleyville33
whala http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...sa%3DG%26um%3D1 On my direct tv setup, the ticker on the bottom of my screen is still the old styled one. It had the new one for opening day, then it went back, so I don't get it.

RaysFTW
Here's a little preview of something that I just made. Based it off of the picture you gave me, JR. I still need to work on the background and the box score, but the stats are done.

RaysFTW
Rays, that looks good man. *You can learn alot from JR, his PS skills are top-notch. Thanks a lot. And I've noticed that about JR. His templates are always very easy to read and clean. I'm sure that he had to learn a lot though. I'm still in that learning process.
JoeRudi26
Wow, very nice, Rays. Easy, simple, clean, and to the point are the best ways to start. You can put the cosmetics on after that. Great job, man. *edit - I'm still working on the same one that you are, just trying to get the logos and lighting to come out right. Another piece of advice: Always name your layers when you create a new one, it will save you a ton of time.
