Tc Phase 9 Is A Beast

This mother of a congregation of a season wrapped inide an ALL TIME ENDLESS LIST of great teams shows the potential of finding a TRUE champion. Although, the obscure leagues and disenfranchised teams from ALL OF THE DIFFERENT leagues kill this masterpiece of TC phase 9. It is a very good mod, but what fans like me want cntrl over are teams to where we can see 41NYagainst the 27 Yankees in the freakin' world series if we want. These cactus, international, texas league things are riiculous.

What we did in TC9 is no different than what the original creators of the game did. Would you complain to EA Sports because you can't have a World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Sacramento Bees or the St. Louis Cardinals and the New Britain Rock Cats?

The game only allows 30 Major League teams. And only those Major League teams can play in the World Series. We can't do anything about how the game works. Yes, we put 120 Major League teams in TC9, but that doesn't mean that there is only one league and that any of them can play in the World Series. We can't change the structure of the game.

If you want a World Series against between the '41 Yankees and the '27 Yankees, play exhibition games between the two teams until one of them wins 4 games. Others have done this. Have you ever seen this thread from a few years ago when one member played a tournament with all 120 teams to determine a champion? http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?showtopic=24573

Moving teams around is a lot of work. You have to change rosters, uniforms, logos, in-game text, team audio, etc. In other words, it's not for the faint of heart, and not something that can be done by simply renaming a few files.

As for the "what fans like me want" comment, as Y4L said, you're welcome to try creating something yourself, however, as you will soon find, it's no easy task. Plus, you still won't get the game to do what you want it to do.

We've got 4 years of development invested into TC development with contributions from many modders. Also as far as your comment about the disenfranchised leagues and teams "killing" the masterpiece, we've got plenty of satisfied members who are happy with TC as it is.

And finally, think about what you paid for TC9. That's right, nothing! I'd say that the value you get far outweighs your purchase price.......

Wow. Thanks for all your work TC guys, because it's going to be unappreciated anyway.

I think the problem is that we give away TC9 for free. How good can something be if it's free?

I think that once we start charging for it, everyone will tell us how great it is...... :p

Yeah, but then people will be really demanding since they feel like they own it. So you'll get people complaining that the more recent teams in the single season mods aren't replaced with like the '75 Reds or '98 Yankees.

I prefer free so we can still make fun of requests.

But if we charge for mods, we can start behaving like the gaming companies -- we'll listen to requests (making fun of them in private), thank people for their input, and ignore any problems they report (or tell them that the problem is on their end, and not with the mod).

We'll get mods out in half the time, since we won't have to spend as much time thoroughly testing them. What will we care? We'll have our money and can move onto the next mod.

Think how much easier it would make our lives! :o

Jim, you didn't even have to bother giving this guy an explanation for anything. This guy just joined up and he has no idea of the history of the Total Classics series and all the hard work and hours that have been put into this by you and everyone else who has had a hand in it.

I got accused recently of treating some of these new users with disdain. It's an accusation that I don't agree with or even bother listening to. But in this case, with this guy and the comment he made about this mod, it's true. If he doesn't like this mod the way it is, then all I can advise him is to delete this mod from his hard drive and to never bother with it again.

The nerve that some people show around here at times is beyond anything that I've seen before.

I have hired a team of attorneys to sue the crap out of you guys because you have fed my addiction for this game with all these great mods that led to the break up of my marriage. :-)

What mod was the one that broke it up? 1951? 1978? 1969?

Luckily, the TC lawyers advised us years ago to incorporate ourselves as a company in the Cayman Islands so that if we did face future lawsuits, we would be outside the jurisdiction of the U.S. legal system.

In hindsight, I'm glad we listened to them..... :D

Jim825,

I am relatively new to the community and have done some modding of uniforms with my game using fictional teams and such as well as mixing and matching the elements of what I like best about each mod into my own created league and all I have to say is what you and the rest of the modders have done is nothing short of amazing. I for one thank you for all your hard work and appreciate and enjoy the opportunity MVPMODS has given us.

That sounds interesting. How about posting some screenshots of your work? I'd love to see it.

Thanks for the compliment. I recently got a PM from someone else telling me how much he enjoyed the TC mods. It's little things like this that keep us motivated to create new mods. As Y4L said, please show us some of what you've done. It's always nice to have "new blood" in the modding community!

I'll try and do that tonight. I was using much of the MVP Carible uniforms for my base uniforms. I was able to create 30 teams and I've got minmum 5 unis for each with as much as 11 for my St. Louis Stallions. Most of it is done in Photoshop and don't really get into too much detail such as separating the shirt when scripting the front of the jersey's and stuff, but I like it and its fun for me. My base roster was the 94 mod so I could have Frank Thomas in his hey day and love playing the old tme ball parks, so you can see how I like to use a little of each mod.

WOW I SAW THAT LINK YOU PROVIDED AND IT LOOK NICE HOW HE DID IT.

I HAVE A QUESTION THO. IS THERE A MOD OUT THAT CAN DO THE SAME LIKE THAT USER DID BUT HAVE IT IN A ALL-TIME LINE-UP FORM FOR EACH TEAM. MLB, AAA, AA, A. TO PLAY IN CARRER MOD OR EXHIBTION. I KNOW ITS A ALOT OF WORK TO CREATE IT BUT DIDNT KNOW IF SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS MADE. THANKS

Hey, don't type in caps. That's an unwritten Internet etiquette rule.

And to answer your question, no there is not a mod that will do what that guy did in his thread. He that all by hand and separated the teams according to how he wanted it done.

I'd have to say no. I'm not on the Total Classics team but I know what needs to be done with something like this. It's very hard to move one team from one location to the other to set up this kind of tournament. That's why this was done by sfgators because he set it up exactly how he wanted to.

sfgators didn't actually move the teams or make any changes to TC. He just created a bracket on paper and played a series of exhibition games to play out his tournament.

Also, what you are asking for would be very hard to do, because some teams have fewer than 4 entries in TC9 and others have 6 or more entries, so it would be hard to come up with a reordering that would please everyone. For example, TC9 contains the 1962, 1969, 1973, 1984, 1986 and 2000 NY Mets. It has the 1909, 1935, 1946, 1976, 1984 and 2006 Detroit Tigers, etc. What ordering (MLB, AAA, AA, A) would you use for these teams?

Also, as I've said, reordering the teams, while possible, takes time. It involves multiple tools and it requires you to modify multiple files (rosters, uniforms, logos, in-game text, team name audios, etc.).

I actually love the mod and didn't mean to get everyone stirred up. I just wanted to say I really appreciate the time that was put in by the modders. I know that there is no way to fit every team in the same league from a 100 year span of history, but I just wish the truly great teams (27NYY, 34Cards, 75Reds, 74A's, etc.) were put in the actual MLB and not the minor leagues, but y'all are right that it is a free download and I shouldn't gripe.
