Ok, just follow these instructions:

I have found a solution for the "Stream read error" when importing a bmp file into FshEd. It's caused by the resolution of the bmps (DPI to be exact). Most of the images created with Photoshop or other programs are 72 DPI or higher. I couldn't turn down the resolution in Photoshop, so I relied on a little program called "IrfanView" (http://www.irfanview.com/).

After opening an image with IrfanView, all you need to do is go under "Image" --> "Information". Delete the two values that are shown under "Resolution" and click on "Set". Now you can save your file and exit IrfanView.

Open FshEd again and now you are able to import the modified bmp into your cyberface or portrait project. Enjoy!

That should do the trick.

My bad, I thought his "yes" meant that he was actually using FshEd. Still, if it doesn't work in EAGraph, switching to FshEd to make the changes would be the best option.

i don't really hear of many people using this method anymore. all i've ever heard of are issues like this. the simplest and most reliable way to import your textures would be with nfshtool. there should be tons of posts (lots by me i think :) ) on how. some of them are about portraits, some in uniforms, and some in cyberfaces. it's essentially the exact same process no matter which fsh file you're using. check xiberger's thread and find links about faces or uniforms. i know for a fact i go into detail in my cyberface tutorial.

Here's how I do things like this:

1. Extract the .fsh file with EAGraph

2. Using nfshtool, extract all of the .bmp files and the index.fsh file

3. Replace the desired .bmp file

4. Create a new version of the .fsh file you extracted by running nfshtool on the index.fsh file

5. Import the updated .fsh file using EAGraph

let's try to walk through this. i don't use vista, so i don't know if it has issues with nfshtool. so i guess we will find out. first off, what kind of fsh file are you trying to edit?

download nfshtool here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?autocom=d...amp;showfile=79

create a folder called nfshtool and extract all the contents to that folder.

i'm assuming you're using file u029a.fsh for your uniform. or whichever one it is. drag and drop the u029a.fsh onto the nfshtool.exe file in your nfshtool folder. this should now create a folder called u029aa in the same place your u029.fsh file is.

if vista didn't just have fits with this, then we can move on. if you look inside the u029a folder, you will see a bunch of bmp's. most of them will be the textures while some have coordinating alpha bmp's. there will also be an index file, which we will get to.

the best way to replace your textures would to simply open the u029a folder and locate the bmp associated with it. open it in photoshop and paste the texture you created over it. then flatten the image and save it. doing it this way ensures that your texture will be the same size as the one you're modifying and that it's in the right format. repeat this with all the textures you want to change.

when you're done, find that index file in the u029a folder. drag and drop it back on the nfshtool.exe. when you do this, it will repack all those bmps you changed back into the u029a.fsh file. so now if you open your u029a.fsh file with EAgraph, you can preview it to see all the changes.

this is essentially the process of editing fsh files. when you're ready to install it, just zip it up and install it with Tit.

that is correct. also don't forget about the portrait bmp for the uniform select screen. look at xiberger's thread about uniform mods for more details.
