Dalebopp
OK... I think this is real... but not sure. I've been playing MVP Baseball 2K5 (playstation) ever since it came out, waiting every year for something better to come along.... nothing has compared. I've been searching online recently for a PC baseball game and there still aint krap. So I came across this page... amazing. Let me make sure I understand a couple things here, hopefully one (or many) of you guys can answer for me: 1: Are there downloadable up-to-date, reliable rosters? 2: Do those rosters accurately portray ALL of the new players (likeness, skill level, batting stances etc..)? 3: Is it all free to download? 4: Are all/most of the bugs worked out so the system is reliable and not choppy, but yet fluid like the real game? There are so many more questions but I don't expect anyone to answer them all. I've been searching around on the net for a PC MVP 2k5 with some crazy prices $140+, but am soooo willing to pay that if this all works out. I'm surprised to find that so many people have put so much time and energy into playing the game I so dearly love. Again, nothing has compared to it since and it would be amazing to carry on the legacy with all updated rosters and stats, etc. Please give me as thorough answers as you guys can muster... I'm a HUGE fan of this game and would love to get involved here. Thanks everyone, -Dalebopp
NeoMExelor
Yes. You do know MLB 2K9 came out for PC, right?
MilkmanAnt
There definately is up-to-date rosters and a lot more things. Trust me I felt the same way when I found out about MVPMods in late 07. The downloads are free, but donating to the modders won't hurt. As for the price, that's just the way it is!

Thanks everyone, -Dalebopp 1)the rosters are the best. they update them a few times a year 2)there as close as they can get them 3)almost everything here is free, i can only think of one that isn't, but its for 2k9 4)game play is mostly the same, we cant fix that, only ea can, but theres not many bugs in MVP, 2k9 on the other hand is a diffrent story hoped i helped, MVP's price has gone up alot, im lucky i got it in 05 when it was its orignal price welcome to the site

JoeRudi26
Most things that seem too good to be true usually are. But not in this case. Here's what you will need that can either be found here or at eamods.com in the respective downloads sections (among countless other mods): MVP '08 Mod (found at eamods.com) KG's Rosters 7.1 Plus 2009 Schedule You may want to check out different datafiles and/or slider sets too. Most things you download will have a readme, not to mention there are tons of good people here that are willing to help. And yes, it is all free, but I don't think they'll ban you if you decided to donate to the site at some point. Good luck.
Dalebopp
That's amazing guys... thanks for the quick feed-back. Ok... is there anywhere (a link) that you guys can direct me to for a quick "how-to", as far as downloading all the 'mods' I'll need to get started? Essentially, I would need some direction as far as all the downloads I need to get started. I'm not looking for all the crazy mods that I've been seeing, just basically something to update the rosters. Any help you guys can give would be great. I want to secure that my d/l's will of course be safe because I just saved up FOREVER to get my new PC and don't want to wreck it. As for whether or not I'm aware of 2k9... yeah I am... I played it for playstation and it was terrible. I mean.. everyone had the same batting stance!!!.. hah Oh yeah, one more thing: Anyone know of a good source for MVP 2005 (PC)? OK... I lied.. one last thing... how come EA stopped making the MVP series? Once again, thanks a lot for everything everybody! -Dalebopp
Dalebopp
I keep thinking of questions... sorry guys When I played online with the consoles, there was a slight delay with the swing. Meaning you would have to swing an instant earlier than you would if you weren't playing online. Does that problem exist with the PC version? Once again, thanks -Dalebopp

SESbb30
EA stopped making mvp becuase the shitheads at 2k bought the license (sp) to make baseball games, meaning only 2k, can make baseball games for everything, and sony, microsoft, ect, can only make games on their consoles. And an appropriate donation would be what ever you want it to be. And the downloads from this site are safe.

Once again, thanks -Dalebopp Yeah, that does happen when you are using the PC version too when you are playing online IP to IP hookup. There's nothing that can be done about that. That lag is not really part of the game but rather a result of the online hookup that's going on. And welcome to the website before I go further. I recommend you spend some time in the download area to see what there is. There's a lot for MVP and if you have 2K9, you got a lot of choices too. Last one, I swear. What's an appropriate donation? -Boppers There is no set limit on the number of questions you can ask here, so please go right ahead. You just got here so it is understandable that you have questions. As far as an appropriate donation for the website, it depends on you entirely. Whatever you are comfortable with. No one is ever going to say "give this much or else." Being nitpicky, but..... MVP 05/6/7/8/9 MLB 2K9 Daflyboys is right here. There's a HUGE difference between MVP and 2K. We never mix the two together. It's like having a Bostonian running for mayor of New York City.

petep1980
The 08 Mod is pretty much the be all end all baseball video game. Get it with some good sliders, and all the new stadiums and everything and it's KILLER!!!! One issue I found is re-signing plays seems easy. They rarely want pay raises. It's also one of the few video games I have to say that has gone up in price.
Dalebopp
Great to hear guys. That's all great news. Sorry about the abbreviated 2005 (2K5), won't happen again Anyhow, it looks as though I'll be purchasing the PC Version now... I'm so excited to get it back up and running with all new guys... you really have no idea (or I suppose you do) So as far as the D/L's: Are these files scanned for viruses or anything by the admin? Is there any stop-gap at all to insure d/l safety? I understand the complexities of adding this feature to a free site, but just wanted to check and see. After I d/l and everything I plan on giving a nice contribution to the site. Which eludes to another question, does that money go to the modders themselves, the people that run the site, or a combination of them both? Thanks again for everything, -Dalebopp

SESbb30
ive downloaded well over 100 files from this site, and ive never had a virus problem. Jim825
Oh yeah... what are "sliders". I'm doubting it's the pitch with the same name sake... -Dalebopp Sliders are gameplay settingsthat you can tweak to have the game play to your liking. For example, if you think that the CPU tends to hit too many home runs off of you, you can adjust the CPU slider setting down. If the pitches coming in seem too fast for you (i.e. you can't get hits or you strike out too much), you can adjust the pitch speed down. All of the donated money is used to pay the monthly fees to keep the website up and running (webhosting fees, etc.).

SESbb30
well, i would recommend the logitech dual action controller, you can pick one up at gamestop/eb games for 20 bucks. (ive used it for 2 years and no problems). but if you're willing to spend a little money, you could get some really fancy ones also http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDet...roduct_id=29384
Jim825
I used a Saitek P880 for MVP 2004 and MVP 2005. Then a few months ago, when I bought MLB 2K9, I bought an XBox 360 wired controller. I got rid of MLB 2K9 after two weeks, but kept the controller and it works really well with MVP 2005.
Dalebopp
Cool thanks, OK, I've been browsing the dowload pages and have yet to find an all encompassing download (unless I'm a little slow) Can someone provide me with a link(s) to what I'll need to get started? I'm just mainly interested in having the rosters updated to 2009. I think KG's is the best (from what I can conclude), but I'd like some opinions, as you guys know far more than I. If it is KG's, then is that pretty much all I need to get started? I don't care much if the uniforms are correct or the hats are right... I can figure all that stuff out later. Basically just a pack of downloads you guys can recommend to get me going. Again, thanks for everything. -Dalebopp
15Beltran
You've found the best site there is for what I think is the best game available, MVP05. Everything you need to make an old game seem brand new is here thanks to the great modders on this site. After I D/L 'd all the mods these great guy's had to offer to update MVP05, I don't think I put the joystick down for days, hehe. I use the logitech as well btw. It seems the trend here is towards 2K9, understandably so with it's sweet graphics and since we've all been playing MVP05 for so long it seems like a natural move for a change to something new. I myself went back to MVP05 cause for me there's way to many bug's with 2K9 but to each his own. My dream BB game for the pc is to have High Heats realistic and statistcal gutts and it's awesome franchise managment, MVP's gameplay and 2k9's graphics. And if there are modders who can pull that off someday, there are here at MVPMods !!!

It's easier than ever to install mods and these guys have pretty much made installation programs, especially the Total Installer Thingy (TiT), again over at eamods. The other mod that I would recommend if you don't like the look of the grass in the 08 mod or you have trouble picking up the ball is the grass changer (gchanger) mod which I believe you can still find here.
