AlexTony
I was experimenting with a data file to see if I could understand and possibly change some things. I opened the file with 'Notepad' and now other files have the 'Notepad' icon. My question is how do I get them all back to the usual file icon (Windows?) When I initially right clicked on the datafile it asked 'open with' then it gave me several options, so I chose 'Notepad.' However, when I went to change it back I did not see (or understand) which one it was originally. My question is how do I get the files to all look like the previous 'Windows' (?) little icons (or simply change the files back to the way they were or how they usually look)? Homer
not sure if it will work for this, but open any folder. go to Tools>Folder Options>File Types. look for the file type and hit the Restore button. this should restore it to the default association. Jim825
I played around with this for a while this morning, however, I didn't try the Restore option. The only way I could get it back to the default Windows icon was to edit the registry and remove the offending file extension. After rebooting my PC, the icon was back to the default icon. AlexTony
Hey fellas, I could not find a 'restore' option so I chose 'advanced' and then chose to simply change the icon style back to the default. That seemed to do the trick. Thanks much!
