I am curious olerud, why can't you get internet access at home? There are a lot more things on this site for you to see. In fact there are things on this site that may be just as good as Dylan's mods.

Makes sense. You should try them out though, they're really accurate comparing ratings to stats.

To each their own. I've got a system that I know well and it works great for me, so I'm sticking with it. I'm just following the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy.

Do you get a royalty everytime someone uses these calculators? Also, I'm just curious -- You just joined this site 5 hours ago. If you are at the library, as you say, and you just found the site and the calculators today, how do you know they are so accurate in only 6 hours?

Again, I'm not putting down Dylan's work. I just find it strange that you can be such a cheerleader for these tools after having used them for such a short period of time.

Its a good policy to live by.

Haha, maybe dylan should listen to the royalty idea. Wink wink nudge nudge.

Well, estimation. I'd guess a guy like rios has a 77 speed rating, he'd have a 80 rating with the calculator. Seems pretty accurate. I also tried putting in a players 2004 stats ans seeing if they matched with their default ratings. Never editing my rosters since the game was created, they're pretty engraved in my mind.

Again, I'm not putting down Dylan's work. I just find it strange that you can be such a cheerleader for these tools after having used them for such a short period of time.

I really like the whole site not just his calculators. Imagine wishing somehting would come true and then finding it had been created thats what his stuff is to me.

Well, ok. But now that you have his mods, if I were you I would spend some time in the download area because there are a lot of great things there that you would like just as much, I promise you that.

Yes I do, but you need more than 17 mb for it. I was going to recommend the season conversion mods which are over 300 mb apiece.

Download a datafile or two. They improve the physics of the game. Each one should be under a 1MB.

MVPEdit is a must. It'll allow you to edit the default rosters.

MVP2005 Editor is another, it'll allow you to edit your dynasty's players' attributes.

You'll also want to download the lahmandb, it's a database full of player stats up to 2006. Go to http://www.fangraphs.com/ and download the batter, fielding, and pitching '07 and '08 spreadsheets from there.

I can't think of anything else that you could fit.

Happy downloading.

Ok. Here is what I got from this thread...

#1: You guys jump on the new guys, and do a pretty decent job of NOT making them feel at home, with some of the comments you make (though, it is mixed in with some actual helpful stuff).

Granted, some of their posts/questions are kinda stupid, but I am sure mine were back in December, when I knew nothing about modding this game, as well.

#2: Dylan is WAY too nervous as a person. This is the second time I have seen him act like someone is peeping through his windows while he is taking a shower, over nothing more than someone liking his work, or thinking he would be a good asset for THEIR work. Acts like he is being stalked or something, when in reality, the 2 people he was worried about probably couldn't give two shits about him. (No offense. I just think you need to relax a bit)

#3: This thread wasn't really all that funny, let alone "LOL" funny.

#4: I agree with the original poster. Dylan's calculators are the difference between me playing MVP, and me going back to High Heat 2003. The way players are created in MVP is a joke. Ratings based creations are crap, so it is nice to be able to have a program that helps convert real stats, into ratings.

Over my time here I have seen two other ratings calculators mentioned, made by other people... Like they are being flaunted (see what I have, and you don't). Neither of them are up for download. So, anyone who doesn't like to try and guess what a players ratings should be, and prefer to have them stat based for realism, is going to like Dylan's calculators.

In other words, I think you guys over reacted to the fact he likes them. They battle for the number one mod on this site, in my opinion, with some of the stadium mods, and MVPedit. All the other stuff is great, but the only mod I use nearly a much as the calculators, is MVP edit.

Does that make me some weirdo, stalking the creator?

I mean, I had this game on Xbox all these years (though I kinda forgot I had it), and I never knew about this site before last December. Shouldn't be all that hard to believe he never heard of it. especially since he doesn't keep internet access at home (I personally know a few people that don't have a computer, let alone internet access.

Listen, if we jump all over a new guy, it's because we know something, you don't. Trust me when I say, we have valid reasons for thinking this fellow is a dupe account, etc.

But thank you for taking the time to give your two cents, maybe next time PM us, and we will make sure to okay all our posts with you, or explain our reasoning, that way we will know you are satisfied with the way we do, or handle things around here.

Is that okay?
