bob44
The Dodgers looked better today, but still had some of the same problems. Blake comes up with the bases loaded and only 1 out in the 2nd inning. He gets a sac fly to score 1, but thats all they would get. LA gets runners on, but can't seem to get the big innings. Overall impressive series, taking 2 of 3 from the 1st place Phillies in their park.
JoeRudi26
Good series, bob. Blake is starting to come around and Billingsley has been solid. I'd take it. B)

Maestro23
Looking good bob. Just a 1/2 game. If you can get back on a little win streak...
bob44
LA wins its 3rd game in a row! Kuroda pitches a fantastic follow up game to his near perfect game from last week. Juan Castro of all people (who replaced the struggling Furcal halfway through the game) gets a 2 out rbi single in the 8th that scores pinch runner Juan Pierre to put the Dodgers up 2-1. JoeRudi26
Pinch Runner = Pierre Substitute = Castro for Furcal Castro = Drives In Pierre Win Game = 2-1 That's how you produce runs. Great job. B)
bob44
Dodgers win their 4th in a row and take sole possession of 1st place in the NL West! But.....it's the same old story. The hits are getting better, 14 of them, but none of them timely. A messily 2 runs scored out of all those base runners. It's working for now, but how long will the pitching hold up. bob44
Well, it's getting scary. LA still cannot produce runs, yet they take 2 outta 3 in the series and hold on to a small 1/2 game lead in the West. Mota, gets into some serious trouble in the 8th. It was a 2-1 game, but Mota gives up 4 runs on 5 hits, pretty bad for a guy who's era coming into the game was 0.

bob44
More of the same from LA, here in the bottom of the 4th the Dodgers get their hits to load the bases for Kemp.....and what does he do.....Strike out! LA cannot get the big hit with runners in scoring position. Even with the pitching holding a good Mets team to 4 runs, its way to much for LA to overcome. If you wanna look at the bright side, Dodgers are still in 1st place!
Maestro23
Bob, I feel your pain with leaving men on base in scoring position. Man, I wonder what your batting average is with RISP? Good luck in the next game with the Mets.

bob44
This one was ugly. Billingsley has been great lately, but not today. LA's 3 errors didn't help much. Manny breaks his 20 game homerless streak with his 6th blast of the year in the top of the 9th to avoid the shutout.
Maestro23
Wow, Livan must have had good stuff in that game.
bob44
James Loney has a big day, going 3 for 3 at the plate and hitting his 7th long ball of the season. LA finally scores some runs. It looked bad at the start when the Mets jumped out to the 2-0 lead with Santana on the mound. Dodgers have a big 2nd inning scoring 4 runs and that was enough to avoid the sweep. LOL ....Ya, don't know what happened to the Rockies, but during their 11 game losing streak, Arizona has been 8-3 and LA 6-5.
bob44
Dodgers have a day off here on May 21st, while the rest of the West played games. D-backs and Giants lose and the Rockies and Padres win. LA jumps back up to a 1st place tie now! NL WEST
bob44
Good first game of the freeway series! With the game tied 2-2 in the 7th, pinch runner Juan Pierre is at 3rd with no outs. Russell Martin hits a ground ball to 3rd, Pierre returns to the bag and as soon as Chone Figgins throws it to 1st, Pierre takes off to home! Robb Quinlan fires the ball home in a hurry and throws it off line, Pierre slides in to take the lead 3-2! Dodgers add another run, then call out big Jon to close it out. He does struggle giving up 2 hits and a walk, but no runs come across and the Dodgers hold on to win their 2nd in a row and stay tied with Arizona atop the West. bob44
The Dodges bats are finally starting to come around! Casey Blake has a huge game, hitting a rbi single in the 2nd, a 2-run homer in the 4th and a huge 2-run single with the bases loaded and 2 outs, with the game tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 8th. Dodgers go for the sweep of the freeway series today.
