Mvp Isnt Dead

I just asked because i can remember you having some great pitching performances throughout your Cubbies season.

Yeah, my sliders/datafile were pretty bad compared to now.  My pitching was too easy and my hitting was too hard.  I'd have to say after all the tweaking I've done this year, there's not a doubt in my mind that it plays better than it ever has.

I can't believe that he was taken in the 13th round of the draft as well. He should have gone #1. Who knows what the scouts saw before the draft. They should of all been fired.

Linked to Albert Pujols. Another great moment was when i did a fantasy draft and had Albert Pujols wearing a Red Sox uniform. Good times.

Wasn't Emmitt Smith taken in the 62nd round of the NFL Draft back in the day?  Not that I follow football that much, but it's amazing how some of these guys propel after their professionial careers begin.

I have no idea. I don't really care for the NFL. It wouldn't suprise me if he was taken extremely late in the draft.

And where would one find your new sliders/datafile settings? I'm in the same boat right now with pitching being too easy and I can't hit, especially for power.

Something I just finished today but was the most fun was on TCP9 I put the MVP Legends Vs MVP Heroes in a 7 game series to see who would come out on top. I was the legends and we took it 4 - 1. My favorite game was the third because we went into the 10th inning tied 0 - 0. Bottom of the 10th, they have been walking Ruth all series consistently. (he didn't hit a single home run until game 5) Well this time they walked him to first, then up comes Gehrig with a 1 out single to left. Then up comes Mantle with a single to center. So that puts the slow laboring Ruth on third when Berra comes up and hits a pop up to medium center. It takes Ruth everything he has to tag up but he does and that's what wins the game!

Just for public information, these tweaks (datafile) are based off of True's and probably a few other people's as well.  I kind of took what worked for me, and threw out what didn't.  I love the fielding view (True's), I've kept it since day one.

The sliders are pretty much my own.  Just wanted to throw that out there for those who download it.

I was in an online league last year called smashmouth mvp league or something like that. I was the rays, and I was playing one of the best guys in the league, and in the bottom of the ninth, I hit a 3 run walk off homer with Guzman who I recieved in a trade from the Royals. It was awesome.

I forgot to mention that in addition to the sliders, with MVPEdit I manually dropped Batting Contact (-10) and Batting Power (-10) for each individual on my roster. (Hitting vs Lefty/Hitting vs Righty) *Don't forget to do this when calling players up*

I was averaging around 9-13 hits per game, which I feel is a little high on average.  Since dropping these values, I'm seeing around 7-11 hits per game, with power still in tact.  Here are my last five boxscores:

As you can see, the power is there.  I am hitting about 75% of the homeruns with the left stick (up), and have actually hit a fair amount without pushing the stick up at all.  As of tonight (3 HR's), I dropped the User Batting Power from -5 to -10, and will see how that pans out over the next 5-10 games.

My pitch counts are much better this time around as well. With the old sliders, I was averaging around 75-85 pitches per game (which is too low), and with the new tweaks I'm seeing around 100-120 pitches per game. The offset isn't so much lack of control (which I did decrease somewhat), but I've worked it out to the point that if I miss on a pitch, I pay dearly, therefore I have to be careful and patient when locating my pitches.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, just forgot to post the rest of the tweaks.

Haha no Emmit was a first rounder and there aren't anywhere near 62 rounds in the NFL draft.

Shows you how much I know about the NFL.  He was taken 17th in the first round.  62 rounds, lol.  That is pretty funny.   :D

Definitely had a lot of great moments (will list a specific few later on), but one of the most entertaining aspects was being able to present a dynasty along side the king of dynasty himself, JoeRudi26.

Thanks, V, that was fun that year.  Still waiting on you to get something brewing again too.

One of my favorite games I played on MVP was about four years ago. It was back when I was still doing my Total Classics games thread. This game was between the Dodgers and Red Sox and I was using Total Classics Phase 2 at the time. It was a 14 inning game that was one of my toughest games I've ever played.

The write up for this game is right here.
