Wow Jay, Total collapse of the pen in the 9th. :o

"What the hell was going on out there?"

If there were ever a time for "fantasy" in my dynasty, that time is now.  I'm hiring Piniella and Ozzie to take over in the dugout.

...and the story begins..

Don't feel bad JR ...

Losing to Bruce Chen is understandable, he's practically the "Asian Steve Carlton" and well, giving up 6 runs in the 9th to KC could happen to anyone. :D

I'm not doing any better, although I've been spending a lot of time getting ready for the 2010 rosters. I'm ready. I just need final 2009 stats and 2010 projections.

hehe, we should pair up and go on tour for Comedy Central..   <_<

Seriously, the game seemed like it shifted gears and had a mind of it's own in the bottom ninth.  I've not seen this happen too often, but it has happened in the past.  I'm not going to call it a comeback code, because I've been on the winning end of it myself.  Anything in the strike zone was a base hit, and when the tieing run was at the plate, the PC just decided to end it all in one fell swoop.

This season has been frustrating to say the least, but I guess I'd rather have a challenge than load the team down with All-Stars and be 25 games in first place.  As I said, barring some miracle PC baseball game for next year, I'm going to continue with these degenerates for next year's season.

And with that the Athletics pulled a stone from their pouch and slung it at the mighty Royals, and the giant fell to the ground.

Sorry, just trying to recreate the preacher's speech from 'Hoosiers' ... y'know with JR being an Indy guy himself.

JR,

you ever simiulate to the end of the season just to get a feel of where the team would be without you?

I ask becuase I did that with the DBacks and as bad as I am, they're way worse without me.

Actually I haven't, but that's an interesting idea.  I'll have to do that and report back.   ^_^

Good win Jay, and very nice template.

Glad to see you finally crack KC.

I changed my game plan.  To hell with patience, just find the middle of the plate and swing if it comes close.  Not sure if it worked or if Gil Meche is as bad as that 4-10 record.

Either way, that's my strategy against Baltimore.   B)

Early on, if I find myself saying "man, I coulda crushed that one" 4 or 5 times ... I start swinging.

We had this discussion the other day at a coaches website, and if you are taking very hittable pitches just because it's the '1st pitch', then you get what deserve ... changeups low and away and breaking stuff on the corner. In general, hit the first fastball you see that gets a lot of the plate.

If you can drive it, then do so.

Great as usual...

I haven't seen you around VSN. You just sticking to here for now.

Also, whats up with that avatar...awesome

Thanks Alb.  Yeah, I decided to stick it out here for the season.  There's still no better game of baseball out there other than MVP, so I may as well stick to my roots.  Hopefully a miracle happens and we'll get a solid PC baseball game for next year, so whenever/wherever that happens is probably where I'll be.

Yeah, the avatar.  Gold and black can be dangerous, eh?   B)

Great work with this man! B)

Ill definatley be checking up on this everyday.

Thanks man, good to see an A's fan on board.  In-laws are on their way back across the pond after summer vacation, so I'll be catching up on the updates during the next couple of days.

Figured that was why you haven't been around lately. B)

Hope they enjoyed their time here in the states.

I'm at the point where losing doesn't really frustrate me anymore.  I realize I'm only 2 games out (by some miracle), but this team is so weak in every aspect; hitting, pitching, speed, bench, bullpen, etc., that I'm going to play it out for fun and see where things wind up.

Now, where is that guy that said he never sees dynasties with losing seasons?   B)

At least you're cranking out a few hits.

Lately, my hitting has gone to hell, and I'm finding myself being no hit until the 4th or 5th inning on too many occasions.

Yeah, you're right.  I have the game playing great and am getting some good realistic numbers for my personal style of play.  My power (homeruns) is way down due to my impatience at the plate.  I get a run behind, get frustrated, and try to end it with a single swing.

That said though, in real life the A's are actually 51-63, only 4 games worse than the A's in my dynasty.  As frustrating as it is to lose this many games, I'd rather have the game playing like real baseball than anything else.  Oakland is terrible this year, and my team isn't too far behind.  Like I said though, it's an absolute micacle I'm only 2 games out of first.

There's no way this team should be anywhere near the playoffs.

Here's what it looked like simming from Aug. 14th.   Hopefully I can fare better come September and not be in the cellar.   ^_^
