rolliefingers08
I think Jason Giambi has seen his last days on this team. Oh god, I released the guy before the A's did. Atrocious.
JoeRudi26
Oh god, I released the guy before the A's did. Atrocious. I sent him down earlier in the year hitting barely above .230 with a couple of homeruns. After a month or so, I brought him back up because he was actually producing in Sacramento. His batting average shot up to about .260, and he hit a handful of homeruns in his first few games. That was 2 months ago. He hasn't done Jack since. He's outta here. rolliefingers08
Speaking of Jack, where's Mr. Cust?
JoeRudi26
Speaking of Jack, where's Mr. Cust? Man, you're on the ball. He was sent down when I aquired Hairston from San Diego. With the loss of Crosby and the switch hitting Landon Powell, I was in dire need of some right-handed pop somewhere in the lineup. So far, Hairston has done a fair job. With Daric Barton filling in at 1B, and a heavy left-handed hitting outfield, Buck, Sweeney, Patterson, someone had to go and Cust was at the bottom of the totem pole. Thanks for the input rollie, I guess I need to take the time and fill in the blanks on the season so far. I'll put out an extensive recap in the next few days to clear everything up. ^_^

stEdfuNk
Looking good as usual JR I can't believe how many pages of this I just looked through haha Bored out of my mind but presentation is nothing short of a JR dynasty Really bored tonight and reading some more of this thread has really made me want to go looking for my MVP CDs. Last time I played MVP I didn't have a controller and now that I have an xbox360 controller it's making me want start back up and maybe see if I can have better luck with the Padres than they're having in real life right now. I never really appreciated the game play of MVP05 until I tried out MLB2k9 it looks amazing but it just doesn't feel as good as MVP05 you know? Though with this new video card I got when I RMA'd my old one (9800GT) and this new 24" wide screen monitor that allows me to play in 1920x1080 MLB2k9 looks almost good enough to where I might try a franchise with it Anyways I've babbled enough in your thread, glad to see you're still carrying on GL with the rest of the season J Oh and quick question for MLB2k9, which difficulty did you play in with those sliders you have posted in the slider thread? thanks :)
JoeRudi26
99 BB/9 eh? For some reason, the SavReader still puts out some whack stats. Not sure if I did something wrong when I set it up in the beginning of the season, but I noticed on the Team Leaders module that there were some strange numbers. Not a big deal, just wish I could figure it out.

Yep, you're right, 2K9 looks fantastic compared to MVP, but unfortunately I had a lot of issues with gameplay. I would have loved to stuck it out and presented a season with next gen graphics, but eventually I was drawn back to MVP. I gave The Show a shot too, but I just can't deal with console baseball over the course of 162 games. It's hard to give up the MVP Editor, Team Changer, Boxscore Extractor, Dylans Calculators, and so on. Those tools just take the game to a much deeper level, and without them I feel like my hands are tied trying to get through a whole season trying to be as accurate as possible. But to answer your question, I was playing on the hardest difficulty level, and if I remember right was called "Legend". Either way you go, I'd like to see you throw something back out there, I'd definitely follow.

Joey D
Hey JR. Ive been reading your thread for the past couple of days and it cool how you are actually struggling to get to 1st place. Not to mention your presentation is beautiful. GL in game 3 against the yankees. (not that you need it. 8-0? hehe)

But yeah, if you've been reading, you know it's been an extremely stange season. To be 5 games under .500 and tied for first place? lol, I'm not sure if I've ever seen that in real life. But man, I have no idea why Kansas City and Baltmore slapped me around unmercifully, and I seem to have no problem with New York, Boston, and the big boys. I just finished Game 3, so I'll be posting shortly. B)

rolliefingers08
This dynasty makes me want to start a new one and post it, but I know I won't finish it like all the others :(
JoeRudi26
This dynasty makes me want to start a new one and post it, but I know I won't finish it like all the others I realize MVP is an old game, and there isn't nearly as much traffic in the dynasty section like there used to be, but like I've said before, I still think it's the best overall game of baseball out there. I think the key to presenting and finishing a dynasty is to just make a couple of standard templates that relays pre and post game information, and start the dynasty with the intentions of taking your time and presenting a game a day. I see a lot of dynasties that start out really well, but once the initial euphoria is gone, they just seem to die out and fade away. I've tried to tell some people this before, if you plan on playing every game of the season, it's so much easier to play 1 game a day and present it as opposed to trying to play a series or two a day and presenting it that way. Not only is it time consuming, but it can burn you out quick. As always, to each their own, but I'd love to see more dynasties for MVP. If The Show was as good a sim as MVP, I would have not only played it, but I would have taken the presentation to a new level. Hopefully we'll see some long lasting dynasties pop up over the winter, and maybe we'll finally get a solid, next gen PC baseball game come Spring. Not that I'm counting on it. JoeRudi26
Tough loss Jay. Looks like a good game though. I see Crosby's got a little rust he needs to work off. Yeah, finally a decent pitching performance (3 H, 2 ER, 8K), and I barely can get a run across the plate. Chamberlain was pretty tough, it was hard to discern between his fastball and his slider that started out waist high in the middle of the plate, and then dropped straight down 2 feet just before it reach home. I think I pulled something in my neck trying to hit the damn thing. I have faith in Crosby though, I'm sure he'll come around. I really needed another solid right-handed bat in the lineup.
